Hello,

I am brand new to Obsidian Portals and am still just learning my way around this great site. One of the things I found and am trying to use is the massive compendium of campaigns here at Obsidian Portals.

https://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns?sort_by=looking_for_players

Now I noticed that you can filter down to popularity, new games, looking for players, etc. You can also search by the particular game system that you may be interested in. However, despite my efforts I can't seem to be able to do both at once. For example I'd love to be able to search for only Fate Games with the Looking For Players filter. However, when I select Fate in this instance it always defers me back to default search and any attempt to filter removes my Fate filter. Is there any way to accomplish both? The convenience alone seems like it should be possible and I am merely missing something. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me with this.

Is there a way I can change the font (or even just the font size) in the campaign forum?

I'm using the Tangerine font for the
in the general campaign pages at 25px because it's kinda small. But in the forum, it shows up in really small print--hard to read. I want to change the font altogether or at least bump up the size.

I'm Ascendant, so I have access to my settings.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

Hello all,

I'm a recently "ascended" member, still getting my first campaign ready to run -- I've been building wiki pages and trying to learn the ins and outs of the CkEditor.

I've noticed a number of odd formatting behaviors -- things that look as intended from within the "WYSIWYG" editor and yet don't match that appearance in the final, display view. These are things that I've seen apparently functioning just fine on other campaigns I've peeked at, though, which is very puzzling.

I filed a support request, but thought I'd also ask here in case a user can help me figure out the problems. Just to be clear, I don't have any custom CSS configured for my campaign.

Here are some examples of issues I've noticed:

1) When using a bullet-point list with some elements indented, the display version inserts an extra line of whitespace directly ahead of each element that starts a new intend level. It makes multi-level lists look quite bizarre in practice, even though they look fine in the editor.

2) The behavior of "spanning" columns in tables doesn't match between the editor and display views. If I merge two columns in the editor, they look fine...but the display view appears to ignore the "column span" html completely. The result also appears rather bizarre.

3) When I use the editor to mark text to underline, it displays as underlined. In the display view, the tags are actually displayed instead of underlining text.

Here are some screenshots I took of a sample wiki page, as shown in the CkEditor and as displayed when the page is actually saved and viewed. Note that no changes were made to the page between taking those two screenshots.

In editor:

In viewable webpage:

Any help that could be provided would be much appreciated!

Is there a way to make tags that are GM only? I'd like to be able to tag important locations, items and NPCs without revealing that info to the players. I'm not talking about the 'GM only' section of each page. I suppose I could put a certain search term within each 'GM only' section, but I feel like tags that only the GM can see would be easier.

I'm a total newbie to all things CSS, and want to create sections on my wiki that can expand or collapse with a click. I found this code...

Here's a list

             hide

             show

item 1

item 2

item 3

How about that?

.show1 {display: none; }

.hide1:focus + .show1 {display: inline; }

.hide1:focus { display: none; }

.hide1:focus ~ .list1 { display:none; }

@media print { .hide1, .show1 { display: none; } }

...and it's worked great. There are two more things I want it to do with it:

1. Make the text hidden by default so I have to click "show" to reveal it. As-is, the text is already visible, and I have to click "hide" to make it invisible.

2. Remove the line that by the visibile text that says "1."

Any idea how I might finagle this? Thanks!

I have a custom navigation bar on the top of nearly every page. When I decide to change/add a link, I have to update every page and it gets tedious. Is there a better way to do this? I was thinking of inserting some sort of PHP or something on every page and link it to one location so it updates on every page.. is this possible?

The navigation HTML would look like:

Story | "Factions":/wikis/factions | "Rules":/wikis/rules | "Variant Rules":/wikis/variant-rules | "History":/wikis/history
"Regions":/wikis/regions | "Deities":/wikis/deities | "Character Creation":/wikis/character-creation | "Maps":/wikis/maps

Hi,

I'm hoping there is some way to undo my foolishness....

I recently started to set up a new campaign and copied the css to strip it of campaign specific stuff and use that for a new campaign. So far so good.,

And then I copied the stripped css into the OLD campaign, losing oodles of campaign stuff I had carefully crafted.

Is there some way to roll back to the old css, or is that immediately wiped on the site?

Lesson learned: continuously update your off-site backup of the css code in case of future brainfarts....
