Make sure to copy/paste your custom CSS directly into the "Direct Input" option - otherwise you will get a bunch of errors from OP's CSS.

If you do have errors returned, you can either address them yourself or at least share them with the community here when requesting help. Should help with troubleshooting.

Hey all,

I did a search for this and couldn't find any answers. I have a forum and subforum on my campaign, and most of the topics I create, the "Top" and "Bottom" links don't associate correctly. The Bottom should go to the newest post, but sometimes it points to the second post, or the middle of the parent post. This means whenever I click on the topic, it never brings me down immediately to the newest post.

I've tried across multiple browsers, OSes and computers, and all is the same. This doesn't always happen - the first few posts I made in subforums worked correctly, and always brought me to the Bottom. Any ideas what the problem might be?
Thanks!

As I mentioned in my interview, I made up a "D&D 3.5 DM Screen":http://www.scribd.com/doc/218831159/D-D-3-5-DM-Screen about a year ago, and I've had some people asking me on Gmail about an older-version recently... so here's the link to the updated version. But currently, I would:

A. Like to share it with the community, because I know when I was looking for a DM screen I couldn't find one with enough information on it.

2. Ask for fact-checking. I've used it a fair amount and corrected a bit since I first made it, but want to make sure it doesn't have any glaring errors.

C. Is there anything else I should be adding that would be useful? I have a bit of empty space on the 4th sheet. And I feel as though that empty half-column means the screen is 1/24th underutilized.

edit: Edited link to screen. Previously was Google Docs, now is scribd, where I can upload new revisions if needed.

[How To] Alternate Character Listing Layout via CSS

Greetings all,

In the days before Obsidian Portal rolled out the Custom CSS to Ascendant members, I had taken efforts to customize my campaign in every way possible. My crowning achievement was a "character page":https://dangerous-kalamar-4.obsidianportal.com/wikis/characters which, when combined with the "navigation replacement":http://forums.obsidianportal.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=2278&page=1#Item_47 I had devised - appeared as though my stock character page had been highly altered from the norm. It was awesome, and I loved it. Yes, it took lots of work to do, and to update, but it was special to me, so I didn't mind.

Later on, following the release of the Custom CSS feature, my "DANgerous Kalamar 4":https://dangerous-kalamar-4.obsidianportal.com/ campaign was awarded COTM for January 2013. My prized character page was officially on display front and center for all of Obsidian Portal to see. It was quite the victory for me (my players even made me a congratulatory banner to hang in the game room the next session), and I was pleased to be able to showcase my work and hoped that I could inspire others to push the envelope of what was possible on Obsidian Portal.

I started receiving messages a short time later, most of which were something along the lines of:

_"Dear Kallak, I'd really like to do that with my campaign, but I don't want to have to replace my stock navigation bar on 8-billion pages just to get that look. Is there a way to replicate your layout with just CSS and not all the endless div tags and navigation replacement that you use?"_

By that time, my campaign was nearing its end, and I had started to think forward to my next project. I still loved my version of the character listing page more than the standard one, but if it could be recreated with CSS modification - porting it over to my next campaign, and maintaining it there - would be significantly easier. With this in mind, I started to tinker with the stock character page, working on a fresh campaign and having the Custom CSS tool from the beginning the second time around. It took a bit of work, but I was able to create a block of "drag and drop" code to transform the standard character listing page into one closely resembling that first hand crafted one. It wasn't perfect, but with a little help from the great folks on the forums here the rough edges were polished away and after working out the last few kinks, it was complete. No navigation replacement or linking to a false character listing tab. Just a block of code to copy/paste and one entry in the CSS per character. It was simple, elegant, clean - and it allowed me to once again showcase my work.

The code block had to be reworked a bit following the underlying page structure changes of the Obsidian Portal Reforge, but I'm happy to report that the "four wide" layout is back, updated to post-reforge specs and ready to go. So, take a peek at my demo "HERE":https://css-character-layout-demo.obsidianportal.com/characters, and then come back and find out how you can implement this on your own campaign.

@ObsidianPortal: You guys also need to contact your CA to have keys re-issued for the *.obsidianportal.com certificate.
EDIT: This is more incumbent upon Ascendant members, as they have credit card info stored on the site. For normal users it isn't particularly important (accounts could still be hacked, but really not a very attractive target or any sensitive information).

Hi folks,

I'm returning to OP after a while away (pre-reforge), and I'm wondering if there's a way to just get rid of my campaigns' background images completely (replaced by just a solid color). Is that possible in some setting I'm missing, or would I have to become an Ascendant member just to not have an image as my campaign background?

I attempted to do it under the personal settings, but I notice that it is not coming up.

When using a custom font (typekit in my case), the text of the site flashes unstyled before the typekit loads.

Adobe's own javascript:
@
try{Typekit.load();}catch(e){}@

is supposed to hide the flash of unstyled text (FOUT) by blocking rendering while loading. Quoting from the typekit website: "This standard embed code takes advantage of the fact that tags block further rendering of the page to help prevent the FOUT. While the Typekit script is loading, rendering of the page is blocked, so text won’t start to render with fallback fonts. Most browsers do a good job of hiding the FOUT by default, and any remaining issues can be controlled using font events once the script has finished loading and executing." "Typekit Link":http://help.typekit.com/customer/portal/articles/649336-embed-code

I know that OP doesn't support custom javascript in CSS, but is there a another way to hide FOUT in OP? Like "Font Events":http://help.typekit.com/customer/portal/articles/6852
