Hey everyone! Been on this site for along time now, although done very little on it. For my mate's D&D campaign and planning on using it in more detail for an Anima campaign that I'm starting. Uhh for this anima campaign I'm using my own world, one which I've been developing for along time. It's a fantasy world with elves/Dwarves/Orcs etc but set in a 1940sesque technological level. I'll go into more detail later but right now I'm just wondering about race making. That seems pretty easy but to keep it balanced maybe a bit of a bastard. I've made one thus far, the Hunter a race that's kinda like uhh the Claymores from lol Claymore but no wayyy near as strong or powerful, they have to have magical potential and they have to live through what is called "the ritual" to create them which kills more than it doesn't. This is what I've got making them thus far.

I used the race builder in the main book and many "house rules." Does the race seem alright? I was looking at some of the optional "non-human" races in the book and they seem much more powerful than mine.

Hunter Race. (Requires buying “the Gift” which in my world only costs 1 CP instead of 2)

A Hunter has a starting Gnosis of 25
Grants “Extended Perception” they are able to “feel” Altercations to the radiations/reality of their surroundings and can discern if supernatural abilites are being used (and to what extent) around them. This is a secondary skill, of MK+search/notice or then dividing the result by half (rounding up)

Their origin is Natural/Super natural.

Natural abilities

Fatigue resistance (grants the Hunter 2 extra fatigue points)

Accute Senses (+30 to any perception-based secondary tests)

Increased Attributes (Add +1 to every stat)

Increased Reactions (+20 to natural intiative)

Increased Physical resistance (+10)

Increased Mystical/Psychic resistance (+10)

Regeneration (+2)

Mystically Undetectable (+50 to resistance checks against anything detecting whether it be magical, psychic or Ki)

Night vision (allows the reduction of sight tests in natural darkness to be reduced by half)

See Magic

See Matrices

Aren't allowed following disdvantages (Sickly, suseptible to poisons)

Forever young (If Hunters survive the ritual they never age, they stay at their peek for hundreds, perhaps even thousands of years. Though this is unknown as neither Vampires nor Hunters have been around for that long. But can still die in battle or by other natural causes, EG: suffocation, poisons, etc.)

Aura reduction (Hunters can reduce their magical aura to the eqivolent of a normal un gifted person (everyone has a magical aura or a radiation aura even those ungifted in magic) This allows them to go undetected by the Priests of the church or Jaroai or even other hunters. There is no need to roll to do this but it takes an active action to lower and the Hunter cannot use any magical or psychic abilites when they are in the midst of lowering their aura (only Weapon cloak) It also takes an active action to raise their aura back to higher levels) This doesn't enhance their ability to hide from magical detection just to hide how much magic they have to detect.

Weapon cloak (All Hunters have an ability to “cloak” their weapons that they carry from plain sight, until they so choose to draw/use said weapon (weapon must be sheathed/slung for it to work) This requires no test but it takes an active action per weapon to cloak them. It takes a absurd (180) for a magic user to detect the cloaked weapon(s) (one test per weapon cloaked)

Note: Hunters can only recruited from races with a natural magical ability this is only Humans, Elves, Dwarves and Orcs.

I'm able to get it working just fine in both dream-weaver and on the w3schools sandbox, but when I port it over to OP the border just doesn't appear. Below is an example that works on w3schools, if anyone can get it working (or knows that it doesn't work) I'd appreciate it. (This isn't supported in i.e.)

Hello,

I am trying to apply my CSS coding skills to one of my campaigns. So far, I have not been able to figure out how to align the table here:

|Form of Government|Impericracy|
|Official Language|Tyramin|
|Home Nation|Gregar|
|Capital|Imperiane|
|Head of State|Impericrat|
|Head of Government|Valorum Prefect|
|Senior Military Commander|Surface Marshal|
|Executive Branch|Imperial Palace|
|Legislative Branch|The Commonality|
|Military|Freemen Armies of Gregalion|
||Naval Armed Forces of Gregalion|
||Air Forces of Gregalion|
||Free Space Navy of Gregalion|
||Special Legions|
||Star Eagles|
|Founded|00 AS; -14FE|
|Currency|Quinton|

Is there any way to be able to align the table to the right, by fixing it to a certain pixel and not making it move and then enable text to wrap itself around the table detailing this specific planet? I wanted to be able to create tables where information is provided.

On a second note, how do you anchor text to another part of the page? Is it HTML 4 coding that I have to do? Or did the Obsidian Portal upgrade to HTML 5?

Helpful advice would be great! as I'm starting out.

*Weaponry*
| 2h Sword | 56 |
| Long Sword | 36 |
The bold on "Weaponry" works fine, but after that I just have a bunch of pipes and words, not a table. I'm forced to use HTML for this, which is far more clunky and ugly in formatting. Do I need to indicate that a table is starting in some way, or toggle an option somewhere? Haven't had any other related problems with Textile, it's just tables that do nothing.

But I'm a bit annoyed with the default white background that the entire site uses, and I'd like to get rid of it.

Now, to be clear, I'm not talking about the background on the sides (where I've got sidebars set up, and clearly aren't white), or the background in the main body of the text (which I can control rather easily, as evidenced by the fact that it's not white on the site). Instead, I'm talking about the white that surrounds the area that you can alter by default - the bit surrounding the campaign title and that section with the default OP stuff (like Fans, Quick Stats, etc) to the right of the page body. What I'd like to do is change that color so that it's a nice gray. I'm trying to figure out a way to do that without it erasing that entire sidebar there (and covering up all the rest of the default OP stuff), but failing.
Anyone have any ideas?

I'm a long time table top gamer, but I'd categorize my tech proficiency as merely adequate. So, please scale back your replies accordingly.

1. My main question today is... *How* do my players and I post in sequence? Preferably with an avatar beside their post. And would we all post on the adventure log?

I've played several play by posts on Paizo's messageboards, so I could do that piece there. But if there's a way to put it all together with OP's other shiny features, that'd be great.

2. Oh, and is there a dice roller? And how does it work?

3. I'm reading very iffy things about the dynamic character sheets. For simplicity's sake, would I be better off having people manually type their stats and crunch on their character pages? Or using myth-weavers?
Thanks for any help.

Hey all,

Some of you know about and are using the code I've listed "here":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/age-of-legends/wikis/html-templates-for-age-of-legends for uploading your own images to be used as custom background skins/wallpapers. Well, if so you may have noticed at least one bothersome aspect of using this code: you need to manually enter in the height (in px) that you want the background image to display at. This may not be a problem if all of your pages are roughly the same height, but if you are given to writing long adventure logs for instance, then you may find yourself constantly having to adjust the height in the code of each page. I had initially set the height within the code of my pages between 4,500-8,500px, thinking that this would give me sufficient room for page length. However I never counted on having the "Fans" section of my site fill up so much that it extended my page length beyond that of the default px height. So now I'm having to go through once more and change the code on each page so that the background image extends to the bottom of the page. To prevent having to do this again however, I've altered the code to the following:

By setting the "height" to 100% and changing the "position" to "fixed", your background image will now always extend to the bottom of the page, regardless of the height of that page. I don't know how helpful this will be, and some of you probably are already aware of this trick, but I thought I'd just throw it out there for anyone who isn't aware of it.

Cheers,

The thing goes like this. I offered to run Keep on the Shadowfell (with the H1 conversion) for a group of friends who are new to the game. One of them is a girl who really likes roleplaying and so far everything is peachy, as they've talked a lot with the residents of Winterhaven. However, if there is one thing she HATES about D&D is combat and, as you all probably know, that's what 4th ED is mostly about. And since most of this adventure is combat, I'm a bit worried. That's why I would like you to help me come up with ideas in which I can make combat more fun for her and for everyone. Please bear in mind that I don't want to change the encounters too much nor allow them to skip too many of them by talking.

I am a man of small stature and grand Ideas unfortunately I'm definitely going to need to get some help. so with out further ado Here's the scoop I just recently picked up PHB races Dragonborn and found many Arkhosia related Quests so naturally I wished to play in or DM a Arkhosia Campaign, Finding out there was no such beast published I went about on creating it my self though I'm finding it hard to find Back ground info on the cities of the legiondary land. So I would love a little help in brainstorming the land scape I have a map so far and would like to add to it.

I strongly beleave The ruins of Arkhosia should have an Arabic feel.
All Right So I'd love to get a list of the 3.5 draconic gods.
Also I need some draconic items and gifts for my PCs

People probably already know this but I figured I post anyway since I couldn't find a post on this. Granted saying that I'm sure somebody else will refer me to one, and likely a even better solution. :)

When adding embbeded videos using the code suggested commonly suggested (at least the code I was able to find),

More Troops Noble Leader (for example)

the videos come out as extremely ugly on an iPad. Basically the come out as one hugely vertical embedded pic (almost like height was 1 million px or something)

Since many of the players in my campaign use iPads having correct formating of the video is useful to my group.

To get around that place the embeded video in a table.

More Troops Noble Leader

Hopefully this will be of use to someone.

In the spirit of sharing and taking a note from DarkMagus' "Gaming Music":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/gaming-music, I would like to present "Shared Creations":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/shared-creations - A repository for random links, wikis, articles, code for use in OP campaigns, etc. to aid GM's in their gaming.

The idea is to keep it simple and clean using just textile and the OP interface. Currently, there's a lot of D&D (3.5, specifically) content, but I'm not denouncing any system's right for posting. D&D is just what I know ;).

Since OP's community is so vocal and kind, I'm hoping that anyone with links, wikis, articles will come forward and give their two cents for me to post; and that anyone willing to become a player will help with posting. Alternately, if there are any other campaigns out there doing this, I hope we could exchange links and work together to expand our sites.

Thanks for your time and consideration!

Dynamic Character Sheet Tips, Please?

So, as I've mentioned in a few other threads now, I just took my first foray into dynamic character sheet creation. You can see the results here:

Now, when I started work on this Tuesday, I didn't really have much experience with HTML or CSS except on OP (my campaign "Edgerunners":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/edgerunners has been pretty much the epitome of my HTML and CSS prowess up until now), and I had zero experience with Javascript or JQuery (though luckily I do know Java, so it wasn't like I had to learn programming from nothing). Anyways, I learned a whole bunch while building this thing (like how the site's native CSS styles can really screw up your perfectly crafted sheet when uploaded to the server:/), and I stole several bits of code from other DSTs out there (the AlphaOmega one by Karelzarath and ChainsawXIV's Exalted and D&D4e sheets especially). Different DST authors have pretty different coding styles - Karelzarath's is all in JQuery, for example, while ChainsawXIV does his in pure Javascript; mine's a bit of a kludge, because I stole from both sources, but I primarily utilized ChainsawXIV's code.

And that brings me to the point of this thread. Finding the actual code to do the things I wanted wasn't exactly simple (there are over 100 DSTs now!), and the documentation is a bit lacking even in the places that use lots of comments - you still need to figure out how everything works in order to modify it so it works how you want it. So I thought a thread where we could post our own tips and solutions for solving DST issues could be rather helpful, and would be a good place for others to ask questions on how to get their coding to work out correctly. Right now, I have a few things to contribute, both dealing with modifying ChainsawXIV's list objects, and one question dealing with the text area objects.

First, the tips:

ChainsawXIV's default list interface doesn't handle trying to move the top item down a spot very well. You can't utilize the nice 'move this item down' button on the first item in a list. The reason for this is the iIndex variable in the oDemote method becomes Not a Number when it's the first item in the list. I honestly have no idea why; I could probably try and figure it out, but instead I just kludged a solution together. Right above where the iIndex bit is used to move the objects around, I just stuck the following bit of code:

if (isNaN(iIndex)) iIndex = 0;

Yeah, it's cheap, but it works and makes the list interface work as expected, which was the entire goal. It's possible that it could cause a bit of trouble if something unexpected happens, but I have no idea what could cause that to be problematic. Anyways, that was the kludge tip - maybe it'll help someone figure out the actual issue and fix it properly; I don't have enough Javascript experience to do so easily.

My second tip again deals with the list interface that ChainsawXIV worked up. By default, it doesn't handle nested divs or tables very well - you basically need to keep the exact structure that he utilized, or it doesn't work out right. I altered his code a little to make it able to intelligently search for the parent list, rather than assuming the list was always either the grandparent or great-grandparent of the control buttons. Replace his list parent-finding code with the following bit, right where the comment says 'activate the list the item belongs to':

var oItem = this;
var lList;
while(oItem.parentNode){
if (oItem.parentNode.className.match(/list/)){
lList = oItem.parentNode;
break;
}
else oItem = oItem.parentNode;
}

Just do that wherever that comment appears; look at my DST's code for an example - it can be found at line 648 of the javascript file, and elsewhere.

Now, a question. I wanted to add a 'description' text area for my DST. It didn't work; the area appeared, everything seemed to work right, I could type in it, etc. But when I click 'save' on my test character, the description bit doesn't get saved. This disappoints me; anyone have any ideas on why it might not save properly? I might be able to figure it out by myself, but right now my brain is a bit mushy from coding that DST for 12 hours straight today and it needs some rest.
