I'm a relatively new DM and I'm about to under take the large project of creating a whole campaign setting. I have run a few adventures for my old group but they were all in the eberron setting now that i have moved and will be starting a new group I want a setting that is my own. I have started work on on a new class that is a modification of the soulknife class without psionics and a shadow magic feel, I just need some help balancing it and coming up with a few unique class features.
I don't have a lot done for the class yet but here is what I've got.

Abilities:
Alignment:
Hit Dice: d8
Level	BAB	Fort save	Ref Save	Will save	Special

1st	+0	+2	+2	+0	Shadow Blade, Weapon Focus(Shadow Blade)
2nd	+1	+3	3+	+0	Two weapon Fighting
3rd	+2	+3	+3	+1	Shadow Blade(Lethal), Shadow Striking +1d4
4th	+3	+4	+4	+1	+1 Shadow Blade
5th	+3	+4	+4	+1	Free Draw, Twin blades
6th	+4	+5	+5	+2	Shadow Striking +2d4
7th	+5	+5	+5	+2
8th	+6/+1	+6	+6	+2	+2 Shadow Blade
9th	+6/+1	+6	+6	+3	Shadow Striking +3d4
10th	+7/+2	+7	+7	+3
11th	+8/+3	+7	+7	+3
12th	+9/+4	+8	+8	+4	+3 Shadow Blade, Shadow Striking +4d4
13ht	+9/+4	+8	+8	+4
14th	+10/+5	+9	+9	+4
15th	+11/+6	+9	+9	+5	Shadow Striking +5d4
16th	+12/+7	+10	+10	+5	+4 Shadow Blade
17th	+12/+7	+10	+10	+5
18th	+13/+8	+11	+11	+6	Shadow Striking +6d4
19th	+14/+9	+11	+11	+6
20th	+15/+10/+5	+12	+12	+6	+5 Shadow Blade

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Shadow Knives are Proficient with all simple weapons, with their own Shadow Blades, and wiht light armor and shields (except tower shields).

Shadow Blade (su): This abillity is like the Mind Blabe except it only does non lethal damage until 3rd lvl and can only make daggers. At 3rd level teh damage becomes lethal and the shadow knife is able to form the blade in to a short sword or kukri.

Two weapon fighting

Shadow striking: At 3rd The shadow blade gains an ability that allows it to do an addition 1d4 damage while being wielded with in an area of shadowy illumination or darkness. Both the wielder and their target must be in the area for this effect to work. This extra damage does not effect creatures that are immune to critical hits.
The damage done increases by 1d4 every 3 levels. A shadow knife can sacrifice 1 extra damage die to change the type of damage by the other dice to cold damage.

Free Draw: A shadow knife can create its shadow blade as a free action.

Twin blades: The shadow knife has the ability to create a second blade at -1 than the first

That all I have so far Any suggestions would be great, Shadow magic will be a big part of my campaign so any ideas features, other classes or races that will help my setting keep the shadowy feel would also be nice.

Thank you all in advance for all your help. XD

Not sure if this has been posted anywhere before, but I cobbled it together after going over various campaign of the month pages and wikis that I thought looked good - and I thought I'd post it here to share with the community at large. The code below is used to replace the default Obsidian Portal top navigation bar with a replica containing whatever links to pages you would like. I have seen a few pages where the top navigation was replaced, but this was typical with images/buttons. I thought it would be cool to maintain the standard look, but be able to customize the navigation.

The downside is that you have to have this code at the top of every page you intend to replace the menu on, but if you start out with replacing the top navigation in mind, it's not TOO bad to create the pages and just paste it in. HOWEVER, finalize it in advance, cause updating could be quite a chore if your wiki has a large number of pages. Anyway, I hope that this hasn't yet been posted, and that (even if it has) someone finds it and gets some use out of it. I know I've had fun playing with code trying to get it perfected.

I recently made some HTML templates for my campaign and thought I'd share them with the rest of you. I was irked by Chainsaw's monster card template not conforming to the new standard (what can I say? I have some OCD tendencies), so I updated it and put it to use. The template for the MM3 monster card is "here":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/ironspire/wikis/mm3-monster-card-template/.
I also took Sandman's Traps and Hazards template and made a Magic Item template out of it, which you can find "here":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/ironspire/wikis/magic-item-template/.
Let me know what you think, and feel free to re-iterate on these templates using the provided Pastebin links on the respective template pages.

I'm loving it, but my character was a sorcerer with a gold dragon blood line who has become a dragon disciple. I'm curious if there is any way for me to change my character to a wyrmling gold dragon as that is my characters ultimate aim. My GM has no problem with me doing this, but wants me to figure out a creative and appropriate way to make the transition, I.E. more creative than just wish/miracle. Any ideas if gold isn't a problem?

Custom Pathfinder Prestige Class

bq. *For Review, a Pathfinder Prestige Class:*

I've modeled this off the "Dragon Disciple":http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/core-rulebook/dragon-disciple with some influence from the "Demoniac":http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/c-d/diabolist. I tried to create a class that would be useful to just about any fiend, without drastically overpowering the bigger ones (e.g. Pit Fiends). I imagine that this is the sort of class taken by select fiends who rise to become masters and representatives of their kind. The class should be comparable to the abilities of existing fiends (of comparable CR) after adding a base fiend's HD or CR to the class levels it might have here. Generally, a fiend taking this class should start off with the same basic traits as all other fiends of its type (e.g. devil, demon), plus any peculiar traits he has. As he gains levels, he gets a bit tougher and more resilient, but trades off better hit points, saving throws, and BAB for improved spell-like abilities. When he gains anything to do with spell-like abilities, he forfeits any increase in other forms of spellcasting, except for 10th level. Improvements to spell-like abilities are supposed to be very limited, only granting abilities akin to those of similar fiends (i.e. a devil can't take demon abilities), and only affecting a few abilities, i.e. he doesn't get buffs to all his existing abilities. He also gains up to 2 size categories. Given the fact that this prestige class may offer more to a character/NPC than the Dragon Disciple, and the fact that fiends typically start with 3+ racial HD, I've set the skill rank requirements to 5 ranks above the comparison classes.

What I'm looking for is any and all feedback; particularly regarding issues of balance and clarity. That is, how can I make this clearer? and is there anything here that seems to have potential for massive abuse? Thanks in advance and without further ado ....
I've checked various HTML and CSS help sites and either I'm too dense to see what I'm missing ... or I don't know.

Alright, so I'd like to try something new. Normally I'm here to ask about resources, code, yada yada yada, but now I've got an entirely new branch of questions.

I've been playing 3 & 3.5e for ten years. It's my baby and I love it. Know all the rules, have all the supplements, and the worlds most intimidating bookcase. However, here lately I've been looking at 4th ed. It just looks like everything was made to a more "video game" orientation, which is great, being a very active gamer. That being said, I'm finding the format to be very difficult to break into.I can't seem to find any way to change over simply. This might be due to the fact that I have none of the books, like I do for 3.5, however, it will be hard to justify buying the GREAT MULTITUDES of books I see for it, along with the power cards, figures, maps, etc. with my constantly dwindling salary. I've read a couple articles, watched some videos, and spent hours scrolling through what Google lobs at me, but I'm just getting more and more confused. Maybe I'm just so used to tried and true methods that I'm set in my ways, but I really want to pick up 4th ed.

So heres my questions:
1. Is there a site, or primer, that can help me? I'm going through the SRD, but to little avail.
2. Has anyone made a 3.5 to 4 conversion article or thread that I can look at?
3. My friends are all 3.5 elitests. What is a good way to break them into 4th?

Also, I've talked with a few other people who are having the same problems, so if you are, please post your questions as well. I'm hoping that this can help other people as well.

color attributes to character slug links. possible?

Does anyone know if it's possible to apply color attributes and the like to character slug links? As an example, I would really like the character name links generated by the slugs to be normal blue, instead of the light blue that is REALLY difficult to read on white background. I have tried various things with limited success so far:

WHAT HAS NOT WORKED: (assuming character name of bob)

%{color:blue}[[:bob]]%
%{color:blue}.[[:bob]]%
[[{color:blue}:bob]]
[[{color:blue}. :bob]]
[[:{color:blue}bob]]
[[:{color:blue}. bob]]
[[:%{color:blue}bob%]]

WHAT ESSENTIALLY WORKS BUT IS FAR MORE ANNOYING (assuming character name of bob)

[bob]ADDRESS-TO-BOB-CHARACTER

"{color:blue}Bob":bob

naturally I understand that I could do the 'longhand' HTML version of links, but what is the point of having nifty (and fast) character slugs if you have to do the full HTML style links just to change something small like the color.

However, I am worried about some of the items I have uploaded, such as more than one campaign map. Does anyone know what the fate of these things are when you cancel?
This tag was mentioned on the Haste podcast a while back and brought up again recently. I've tried using it several times, but I just can't get it to work. I've tried pasting in on its own line, at the end of a paragraph, and any other tweaky thing I can think of, but no luck.

I really like the recent podcast tip to use this as a way of putting a summary on the the main Adventure Log page and linking to the full report. Has anyone else had a problem with this? What am I doing wrong?

Many thanks,

I was wondering if it is possible to simply link a Wiki page to a Character page. I know I'm probably missing something simple, but I'm setting up my Wiki to break down characters into Major NPCs, Minor NPCs, and Enemies so that when a player clicks on the person's name, it takes them to their character page. I like the streamline approach of putting all of this into a Wiki, but the elaboration that comes with the Character pages. Hopefully I'm not missing something TOO obvious.

I'm really enjoying OP, and the players have found it a valuable addition to our game.

However I have had one recurring comment. As NPCs die, I tag them "Deceased" -- but short of tagging all the not-dead people "Living" they eventually clutter up the remaining NPC listing.

Is there any way to separate the Characters page with additional divisions, like the PCs/NPCs/GM Only divisions that currently exist?

I figured I would bring this up since I know several people who are color blind and was thinking about if some of the colors I was using contrasted enough. When creating pages I always try to keep in mind not only the color scheme I want to use, but also how it contrasts. Something I some times I still forget however is color blindness. I thought I would just throw out there a few things that people should think about if they want their pages enjoyable to the widest variety of people or incase some have color blind players.

My two favorite pages are:
"http://www.lighthouse.org/..../effective-color-contrast":http://www.lighthouse.org/accessibility/design/accessible-print-design/effective-color-contrast - A great page on the use of effective color contrast
"http://colorfilter.wickline.org/":http://colorfilter.wickline.org/ - Allows you to filter a page based off various types of color blindness
Problem is I know next to nothing about HTML, CSS, et cetera. So as a result, the sheet as it stands now is barely functional, and I'm not sure how much of it works at all.
Hey everyone,

I am TRYING to do some cool stuff with gooveshark and my site but it is not getting along with me very well. The things I am trying to get it to do are:

1. Autoplay
2. Put playlists instead of only just one song
3 Choose between randomizing and specific order for playlists.
4. Hide widget with other picture (like maybe just a SMALL play button or music button) that could turn it off and on.

Any help with this would be appreciated. As it stands OP does not seem to like the base coding you can get for the widget from grooveshark so it has been difficult. Hopefully some of the code gurus on here can make some better sense of it.

EDIT: And I sent an email to the grooveshark support with the only code possible to post on OP and they were absolutely zero help with their response.

Well, I've decided to get my wife playing some pathfinder with me. I have walked her through creating her character and gotten some ideas of what the campaign will be.

Currently, my plan is to GM and run a PC to play with her. I will likely make a rogue or ranger that I will try and synergize with her Bard. The quests will be mostly based around espionage and conning. As we get further along, I will probably start to add in covert assassinations and maybe some minor dungeon delving.

That being said, i'm not sure how to modify combat for 2 people very well. And, I've never DM'ed while playing a true PC. Any tips on how to approach this or things to avoid?

My wife's character is on my webpage, http://rpgwench.com/topics/characters/pcs/ Talaitha the Gypsy. I should probably post that in my campaign on this site.
