Any help would be greatly appreciative. My homepage is http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/resurgence. Below is my home page code.
Hi Guys,
I posted this once beofre but I'm told its in the wrong catagory so it fell through the cracks.

I have a problem with the character pages of my wiki. My players are using the interective character sheet for 2e WRFP and the sheets work really well but they cover up the character background section. As a stopgap measure I've got everyone using the GM+Player secret boxes and enabling everyone in the campaign to view them but I'd like anyone browsing the campaign to be able to see the character backgrounds.
Heres a link to my characters page:
Even though the coding is pretty much exactly the same, I think this subject is worthy of its own topic so that people who are interested in creating their own maps can find it more easily.

I've made a foray into the DST system, as I find it fairly tedious to manage Mage: The Awakening sheets in Textile. My goal is to make something that looks as similar as possible to the sheet from the core book, and a big part of this is dots.

The way I've been doing this is through an image generator for dots I found some time ago, http://files.ihavenofriend.com/dots.php

Using this in Textile or HTML is fairly simple, respectively:

Now, if I have an attribute called dsf_intelligence, I'd want this to be slotted into the HTML code in the two places it says 5, the argument for the php file and the alternative text. The system actually doesn't complain, showing 5 empty circles as expected. However, I can't edit it directly, and referencing the attribute directly as text and changing it does not affect the picture.

Any suggestions wrt this? Or am I doomed to have numbers for attributes, skills and so on?

I will be a DM for two separate groups using my campaign setting. I'm wondering what the best way to handle it on OP would be? The main problem I foresee is with the forums/log and notifications. Checking/unchecking half the respondents each time someone posts a message in the forum looks like it is going to be cumbersome. I could have two separate campaign sites, but then that means maintaining two separate wikis for the same setting. It's not an insurmountable barrier, but it's sort of not an appealing thing.

If there's a nice trick or way of doing this in one OP campaign or somehow get both campaigns to link to the same wiki, I'm all ears.

Right now I only have one group logged into the campaign site, while the other isn't, just to keep the notifications sane for all groups involved so that they don't turn off forum notifications because half of the messages don't apply to them.

Hi,

I am currently running a series of campaigns, which ultimately end up becoming part of a very epic saga. The first one has been completed and my second one is currently in session. After the second tale is over I'd like to make a new campaign but as I started to "pre-create" it, OP says I can't since I am currently running the free version and in order to have more than two I'd have to pay...

So in other words, am I stuck with my two campaigns or do I have to create multiple accounts now, which'll ruin the aestheticness of my soon-to-be trilogy? I couldn't even make a "campaign" regarding _only_ the timeline of all our campaigns at the moment...

I am very disappointed in this...

Using quotes around textile wiki links

So, I've found that I can't link wiki or character pages using the textile Brackets if i am doing so within quotation marks.

Example:
"Time's up Eaglesport!" Wexley shouted with rage. "Now Ferrik gets to come out and play!"

What I end up with, are lines of html code displaying instead of the bracketed links. I know enough about html to know that quotes are used as part of the code, and I'm confusing the program with the quotation marks that I'm trying to use to show speech.

So my question, if anyone would be willing to field it, is what do I need to do to keep the textile links from going all codey? So far, I've gotten around this by moving the link to the same word appearing later in the document well away from quotation marks. It's been working ok, but I like the link to be on the first instance of the word in question. Plus, Im sure there will come a time when It comes down to either linking within quotes or not linking at all.

Can anyone help out?
Thanks in advance.

How to whip up a planned/ unplanned session in no time

I've recently discovered this site through a friend of mine, and it is great. I just wanted to throw out a very useful tip for planning a gaming session on short notice (or if you just want to be a little better prepared for your normal campaign it works for that also).

Its very easy, just bust out your old flowcharting skills. Take a blank sheet of paper and write down the starting point for the adventure (one sentence). For each item think of at least 2, and sometimes 3 possible outcomes-- keep in mind your knowledge of the adventuring party and what they are likely to do if possible. Draw a line with an arrow and a one sentence description to each outcome. Repeat. Where applicable, you will see that there are many opportunities for the lines to converge on the same point (they will loop around, and back, quicker than you think). If you are having trouble visualizing this method, think of the Choose Your Own Adventure books way back when.

So you end up with a few pages (or one big page) sketched out, in under 30 minutes. You have anticipated most of what could happen while still allowing for a good degree of flexibility for the party to act however they choose.

IF you have more time, you can write little notes on some of the boxes/ circles you already have on the page before the session starts. Or, as I like to do, you can just continually make sure the next decision in line has a couple of details filled in (basically just fill in the 2-3 pathways in front of the current one being taken by the party).

This actually helps me come up with (in advance) good strategies to keep the players focused on what I think they should be focusing on, without being heavy handed about it. Why? Because you already figured out in advance 4 different ways the evening session could go and still bring them back around to (insert campaign goal here) with your flowcharting!

If you dont believe me, try it sometime-- or just take your own existing plan for the evening and do a quick 5 minute flowchart for it. I bet you will discover some holes/ possible sidepaths/ unexpected possibilities in your planning that an enterprising party could exploit.

SUPER simplified version of this method:

Starting point :
Gladiator Arena (circle this)
/ \
Party decides to enter combat party does not enter combat
/ \ / / \
Win fight Lose Fight Meet contact (bar) thievery shopping
/ \ / \ / \ / \ / \
leave go again reroll chars patron saves caught success

This is a hell of a lot easier with a pencil. Anyway, you can already see loopback potentials, and when you draw these out each item will have its own box or circle around it. You can jot down details inside of each box or circle, or adjacent to it either while planning the session or during the session.

Trust me, this can really make a DM seem like he has spent days and days planning when really he just spent maybe 30 minutes to make a flowchart and another 15-20 minutes adding details as the play progresses.

Lastly-- on your flowchart sheet keep a list of names at the bottom, for any NPCs that might come up (or be imagined into existence at the last moment) .... use a random name generator like this one if you want:
http://www.rinkworks.com/namegen/

Cheers and happy adventuring. If this seems complex, then I didnt do a good job explaining... it really does work for a planned/ unplanned session! I have been using it for years, and I actually use it as a tool for planning adventures too. If I have time, I flesh out all I can. If I dont have time, I still have my adventure flow planned out!

Hello. I have been working on my campaign page and I am a new user. I don't have much backround in the wiki editor. I read the faq on the forums, used the search function and read through the advanced wiki editor guide and was not able to find my answer. I am sure it it pretty simple for the cool things I see other people doing here.

How can I link a jpeg image in my adventure log to a wiki entry for that particular entry?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me.

I'm trying to write up a dictionary page. For some reason, the bold and italic syntax seemingly randomly works or doesn't work. When it doesn't work, it just shows up as plain * or _ in the text. Using HTML's b or i instead can work, but it's more annoying.

This is the page: http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/los-nuevos-angeles/wikis/a-runners-guide-to-slang

You can see the sporadic syntax. (I'm debating whether to use the definition syntax or tables. That's why part of it is done one way and part another.)

Here's the code for the first few lines:

|*Angel* _n._ A benefactor, especially an unknown one.|*Arc* _n._ An arcology.|
|*Breeder* _n._ Ork slang for a "normal" Human.|*Business* _n._ In slang context, crime. Also, "Biz."|

- Buzz := Go away. Buzz off.
- Chipped := _adj._ Senses, skills, reflexes, muscles, and so on, enhanced by cyberware.
- Chummer := _n._ "Pal" or "Buddy".

Hi, I'm new to OP & I'm having trouble uploading pictures using the button on the wiki toolbar. It may be that I'm being stoopid & missing something obvious as I am virtually computer illiterate!

A couple of jpegs have uploaded fine, shown up on the left of the 'Media Library' pane & so have been inserted into my wiki page. However, 99% of the time the images sit in the right hand side of the pane under the 'Browse Files' button & don't upload. I thought that I may just have to be patient & have waited quite a while to see if it's just a bit slow on the uptake but still nothing happens.

Can anyone help me out please?

Is it any good, and how can I make it better?

If you want to give feedback on the rest of the campaign, wiki etc feel free.

Ignore the names next to the PCs - I don't really play them all myself, I just DM - Hernando is played by the DM of the other game, and Juan by the player who was playing the rouge.

I'm sure others have already thought of this, but I want to make sure that it doesn't breach some conduct code...

I belong to a Facebook gaming group. We're small and it generally fullfills our needs. However, I started thinking, and figure OP can fill out some more of the demanding aspects. OP will give us a home page to mention what we're about; it offers a blog to record what we did last, and a forum to have longer, open discussions. I'm not sure how we would use the Wiki -- any ideas? However, the other tabs are unnecessary. Is there a way to remove them?

So my questions are:

Is this going against the spirit of the site, thus not recommended?
Can tabs be removed?
How would you use the wiki?
