This feature would allow a user to 'recreate' their campaign by allowing them to delete material that is not necessary in the either the original site or new site. Also it may be possible to write a program that would allow the user to edit the XML file prior to restoring it to a new campaign.
How does it look:
Very much like the Campaign Backup except it would be Campaign Restore and would provide a way for the user to upload the backup to be restored.

Hey, first time poster so apologies if this isn't formatted correctly.

I have put quite a lot of time creating high resolution maps as part of the cartographers guild, and its always bugged me that when you upload a Map to the ObPortal "Maps" tab of a campaign, that it resizes and compresses the image to in insane degree.

If I upload a 5100x3300 map (for example) which is a very common size ratio for a digital map: http://cdn.obsidianportal.com/map_images/1180597/Island4.jpg

It becomes compressed and misshaped to 1024x1024, the fact is that 1024x1024 is a very small and very low res image for todays resolution standard, and really makes the Map tab useless as you need to be constantly Zoomed in to the maximum level on the Google Map window to be close enough to see detail, and as soon as you zoom out your already cropping gray into the image... Meaning there is no reason to ever zoom out or use the Google Map window VS simply looking at a raw hosted Jpeg.

TL;DR: Why is 1024x1024 the maximum (especially for ascendant members who are paying for hosting) when that Resolution makes the enbedded google maps window useless?

I would like to suggest having the option to post comments (both in the Adventure Log and the Comments sections of a campaign) as we do here in the forums, the "Format comments as" option (as Text or Textile that is).

The reason for this request is that I've noticed that most of my players don't want (or can't) spend too much time getting past the learning curve for Textile, and for me (the DM and the one who uploads most of the info in my campaign) that's fine, but here's the problem. Take a look at this comment: "Vuelta a KotS":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/cronicas/adventure-log/heroic-1-parte-09#comments (it's in spanish but don't worry about what it says, what I want you to see is what happens when people who can't use Textile post single line breaks without the "br" tag). That looks awful! And it's difficult to read too. For this player (and a few more of mine) having the option to post their comments simply as Text would be REALLY useful.

As for "how can this request be implemented?" I think it wouldn't be too much trouble to just add the same "click option" at the bottom of the comment (before submiting it), like we have here in the forums. (Another option could be adding a new icon next to the "*Bold*" "_Italic_" "-Stroke through-" icons, that allows to submit the written text, or part of it maybe, just as Text instead of Textile).

What do you guys think? Is anyone with me on this one?

And what about the options to implement it? Would you prefer the "Format comments as" option? Or something like a new "Text Only" icon next to the ones we already have above the text field?

Hello,

I would greatly appreciate something that interacts with the calendar to help schedule events. Particularly, a way that the GM could create a list of possible times, have players choose which work for them, and allow the GM to select the option that works best for everyone (much like a Doodle Pool @ doodle.com). Also, a way to have players confirm events on the calendar.

As for how these features would look: For the availability polling, I think just a box below the calendar to create availability polls would be great. It could sorta be a subfeature of the calendar. As far as event confirmations, there could be a way to click on an event on the calendar and click accept -- maybe on a new page.
I've been talked out of suggesting a "creatures" tab, the reason being another tab would pollute the design. I still wish, however, that I could separate actual character from creatures, and I think it could be done as currently PCs, NPCs, GM only PCs and GM only NPCs are separated: in a single page, grouped by headings.

Instead of "PC" and "GM only" flags in the character edit page, we'd have a "type" or "class" or whatever dropdown, with our groups. We'd be allowed to edit and reorder them, and have GM only be set on a group basis, with settings defaulting to the current "PC", "NPC", "GM only".

You could have wiki, characters, items, maps as seperate tabs. Click on the tab and you get a list of all posts in the that section. Check the boxes of the ones you wish printed and then click print. This would allow GM's and players to print a bunch of notes quickly and easily. As currently set up, printing is a pain. I have to cut and paste to word then print. This is time consuming and a print function would go a long way towards making OP great. Another aspect of this would be to print all the items clicked in as little space as possible. perhaps creating a line break on the page after each clicked item. This would allow someone to print alot of wiki pages on a few peaces of paper. I realize that the formatting for this may be difficult but I do hope it is possible.

Request: A New Shadowrun Dynamic Sheet

I'd like to see if anyone here would be willing to make a new dynamic character sheet for Shadowrun, 4th Edition. I'd do it myself, but I've never done anything with CSS, so I'd have to learn as I go.

The sheet that Banaticus made is _somewhat_ usable, but there are several areas where it falls short. Especially when it's help up beside graphic-heavy sheets like ChainsawXIV's Exalted form. I like the idea of using pips to note attribute and skill numbers, but there may be space limitations (for instance, it's possible with some races in SR4 to have an augmented Strength as high as 15).

So, if someone's willing and able to put together something a little more functional, I'd like to make some suggestions.

* Attributes have two values, natural and augmented. Numerically, it tends to be listed with the second number in parenthesis, i.e. "5 (8)". If this were depicted graphically (with pips or blocks in a bar), the augmented value would have to be visually different, and there'd have to be an easy way to specify -- say, by shift-clicking for an augmented value.
* Banaticus's sheet handles the "Magic/Resonance" part incorrectly. It's impossible for a character to have both attributes; they have one or the other (or, in most cases, neither).
* The list of skills would be better served by being more dynamic, allowing the user to add/remove rows (similar to the Exalted sheet). While Banaticus's version is okay for starting characters, it's very easy to wind up out of room as characters develop (especially in the Knowledge Skill category). Similarly, the section for listing Qualities just doesn't have enough room.
* The Condition Monitor section is another area that could use improvement. The number of boxes in the Physical column can go as high as 20 (but is usually in the 10-12 range), while the Stun column can go as high as 13. Currently, that section has 18 and 9 boxes. If there is a way to have the number of boxes mimic the entries (i.e., if you enter "11" in the Physical column, it shows 11 boxes), that'd be helpful too.
* It'd be nice to have discrete sections for noting various types of gear: Melee weapons, ranged weapons, armor/clothing, commlinks and software, spells, adept powers, vehicles/drones, fake IDs and licenses, and a catch-all for everything else. A section for contacts would also be handy.
* With the 20th Anniversary revision, they changed the visual layout -- specifically, they changed the forms from green to a light blue. "This":http://www.shadowrun4.com/wp-content/uploads/Downloads/CAT2600A_SR4Anniversary_TwoPageCharacterSheet.pdf is their official character sheet.

Also, I don't know if having any of this information auto-populate would be feasible or break the "edit whatever you want" philosophy. I'm thinking of ideas like having the attribute limits show up as a set of pips (probably square, something like a progress-bar), where the size of the boxes is based on the race you select. (Example: If you pick "human", all the attributes would have 9 boxes, the maximum for them; if you instead selected "troll", the bars would change to reflect the different racial maximums: Body 15, Agility 7, Strength 15, Intuition 7, Logic 7, the rest 9.) By using boxes instead of circles, you could have the width of these adjusted, so that the total length of the block is the same regardless of the actual maximum. (Then again, if a decent layout could be made that has room for this sort of thing, then pips are okay too.)

Might just be simpler to not bother with pips (despite the fact that it would probably look cool).

I realize this is asking for a lot, and if I had any knowledge of CSS or layout design in HTML, I'd start work on it myself. I've taken a look at some CSS tutorials, but I'm not sure if I could put together something that is both functional and easy on the eyes in anything resembling a reasonable time-frame. (I'll probably try anyway, in case no one else is willing to take a stab at it.)

For the campaign browse and search features, I'd really like to see some kind of sorting and filtering options as, sometimes I'm not necessarily interested in only the most popular campaigns. Examples follow.

Sort by (ascending or descending):
* popularity
* last updated date
* created date
* name
* created by

Filter by
* last updated date - updated in the last week, this month, last month, last three months, last six months, last year, custom date range.
* created date - (same as above).
* game system - "any" and "unspecified" options plus either a drop-down menu of supported systems or (better) an autocomplete text box ("Autocomplete Demo at jQuery UI":http://jqueryui.com/autocomplete/)
* name - starting with a specific letter, starting with a substring, containing a substring
* created by - (same as above)

*{color:red}UPDATE:* _Okay, so I just noticed the sort/filter options in the right hand sidebar. As a UX specialist in "real life" my first suggestion is that I hope the Reforge makes these easier to find. Also, as you can see from my lists there's a few more of each I'd like to see, including the ability to do switch between ascending and descending order._

Ok so a lot of forum sites have what is usually called a "spoiler" button. It allows you to enclose a portion of text within two

tags that can be then be hit with a button. This allows to either hide spoilers or to hide large amounts of information with a single button.

This would be useful in table of contents in adventure logs to allow to hid the contents of "chapters" that a lot of people use. Also help in character sheets to hide spells or other abilities that would otherwise clutter up the sheet. There are probably dozens of other ways people could use this but that are simply two that I have constantly wanted to be able to use them for.
I created a new tool that will create a wiki page, in your campaign, with a game world calendar on it. We support the real world calendar (Gregorian), as well as Golarion, Forgotten Realms and Greyhawk. There isn't a ton of formatting on the calendar, so you are free to modify and change it to suit your campaign.

You need to be a Twitter or Facebook user to use the tool, but you don't have to give me passwords for anything. I won't post anything to your feed or wall. Though, if you wanted to tweet or promote that would be awesome. Also,donations to help me cover hosting costs are appreciated.
Consider this beta, and you can find it at http://tools.lostpapyr.us.

Hey all,

Since our game is quasi-historical (it's an Ars Magica saga), I'm finding that a timeline of historical (and campaign) events would be useful. Does anyone have any suggestions as to an easy-to-use timeline tool that I could perhaps link to from OP? Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

I would like to make some 'mass' edits to my campaign. Basically move all the characters, items, etc. on the Wiki instead of their own areas. That is pretty easy - time consuming but easy.

Here is where the fun crops up. I have been making sure to cross link everything. So if there are Wiki page items which reference specific characters then I have made sure to the wiki page has the link to the character. I have a lot of Wiki pages. To change them all would not be a good use of time.

It would be nice to be able to do a search-replace across the entire campaign site.

Either that is it possible to 'download' the site, edit it, and then upload the changes (for the entire site)?

Would love to have items and characters part of the wiki. It would be nice to tag players, places, items, et al, and have one tag list. For instance, if one of my characters, Chip, wants to remind himself of all the people he met in the Timiro Kingdom, and what adventures they had there, and what items they got there, upon returning 2 years later, he has to go to each separate section- Characters, Wike, & Items.
An integrated list would really help.
Thanks!

Feature Request: Filter Adventure Logs by tags

I have two groups in the same shared campaign setting. Lets call them 'home' and 'away'. The home team does not necessarily care to see the logs for the other group. When they click Next to navigate through the logs, they only want to see 'their' adventures.

I would like to be able to filter the adventure logs, from the Adventure log page, based on the tag. The previous/next buttons would take them to the next/previous post with the appropriate tag.

What does it look like? Take the sidebar tag filter box from the wiki page and put the same thing on the adventure log page. Maybe add something to indicate the results are filtered.

I can filter adventure logs from the wiki page, but lose the chronology information, and the navigation buttons do not obey the filter.

Thanks.

Would LOVE a horizontal line between adventure log entries!

*What does it do?*

It would more clearly separate Adventure Log Entries from one another on the main adventure log page, making it easier for long-absent players to easily get caught up on in-game occurrences.

*What does it look like?*

A simple blank line going the length of the content div would be adequate. 1, maybe 2 pixel depth. It might also look nice to just have a line that goes 85% across the div, centered?

I'm sure I could add this myself to my logs, but I like to use the "more" functionality, and it's my understanding that I can't put anything else in my post after the "more" tag and have it show on the multi-log view page?
