The new feature that allows comparison of previous wikis and character sheets has got to be one of the most valuable new features presented in Obisidian Portal for quite some time. I wasn't even sure how much I would use it, but just trying out the comparison of a couple of wikis and character sheets, using the "clicked" buttons, I've got to say it is a WINNER!!!
Over the years, my passion for worldbuilding has brought about the creation of a very detailed game world. When talking to people about the setting, I've been told time and time again that I should write a book and make mad stacks. As I developed as a writer, I began writing short stories, and am now in the process of plotting out a novel.

I have often seen people ask about this possibility on the official Wizards forums, and it is usually met with a fairly vitriolic response of "NO YOU CAN'T DO THIS, ENJOY GETTING BEATEN INTO THE GROUND BY THE WIZARDS OF THE COAST LEGAL TEAM!" However, I believe that I have crafted enough of a unique setting, with new races and interesting takes on classic ones, to differentiate from your standard D&D-type world and story.

What I'm curious about is this: Has anyone on this forum made the transition from DM to writer, or know of someone who has. It's something that I would really like to know more about.

Clarification: I'm talking about writing a book, even launching a series, set in the world I've developed.

I've been working on making the site more friendly to mobile devices. The mobile site is in a half-done, half-functional state, but I was wondering if anyone is interested in taking it for a spin. I've been using it on my iPhone, and I quite like it.

Honestly, at this point I'm not really looking for feedback. I know it's got a long way to go and I'm still working on it. But, it's actually kind of useful now, and I am curious to know if people think it's going in the right direction.

If you're interested, just drop a note here. I'll take a handful, not necessarily chosen fairly or randomly, and enable the mobile site for them.

*Note*: I'm going to make this beta invitation for *Ascendant only*. This will be a little extra perk for our Ascendant members. The final mobile version will be for everyone, but Ascendants get a sneak peek.

*Note 2*: The site will look normal until you log in on your mobile device. Then it will switch to the mobile site.

So it has recently been brought to my attention that our very own Stephen Wollett has begun a project that would create a deck of 160 cards that have various effects on the game.

"One third of the cards are plot changers, one third effect game mechanics and actions, and the final third are all social. A Savvy GM will be able to easily remove any cards that do not fit his style of play and still have a huge deck with many possibilities."

Now i don't know about you guys but i think this is an amazingly creative idea with a lot of potential, and i want to get my hands on them. However, they obviously can't do it alone and are asking for donations to help kick start the project "here":http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1452186107/universal-drama. If anybody could donate, or could throw up any advice or comments they have here about the idea i'm sure it would be a huge help in getting this awesome project off the ground and onto our gaming tables!!!

We are really enjoying the DresdenRPG and I'd love to hear about more crazy critter creatures in that system or others!

For anyone playing Dresdenfiles, take a gander at Mickey. I sort of twisted the rules a bit and gave him a Feeding Dependency, but dropped the tpyical vampire fuel of blood, emotion, etc. "Mickey, the Drunken Travel Gnome":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/summer-crossroads/characters/mickey requires beer to fuel his powers.

I know, first hot dog golems and now a roaming gnome that runs on hops. (The gnome was my fault, not the players.) They wanted to summon him using a Twinkie as bait. That worked somewhat, the beer even better and when he soaked the Twinkie in his Michelob it got even crazier.

Their first task was to ask him to secure a car for them. He led them to the side of a major highway, staggering abit since he had just consumed his body weight in bee. He then called forth a cute little squirrel from the woods. As cars approached he had them dash out into the road. First attempt = squirrel pancake.

Second attempt, well, that one Mickey burped, lost concentration and the squirrel became a raging bear (he was using glamours not real squirrels! Jeez you guys are twisted...) Car stopped, driver fled and Mickey hopped in the driver's seat, his little red pointy hat just visible above the dash. Bastion wasn't happy with that arrangement and nicely asked him to let Anita drive.

Our player Lucian, the Streetwise Stage Magician has the session summary posted for your enjoyment.

Our "Map":http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff300/A-G-A/1stContinentDanu.gif is nearly done from when my players did their world-build last week. I am waiting on a few place names / region names I dont have and shockingly we forgot to name the rivers lakes and seas/oceans.

I am also waiting on one other play report for my Adventure Logs so my update will be a bit later than I had hoped (Probably all will be up that should be by this Sunday) I am now going to aim for updates to go exactly a week behind play sessions since I am slow and I have a lot on my plate both outside of "campaign business" and as my secret evil identity as the maze controller.

I am going to slap in a map key since some of that stuff probably inst clear to the un-initiated too. All told I figure it isn't bad for my first effort in Gimp.

I can do better by hand especially with colored pencils and ink but I am trying this method since so much other campaign stuff is going digital now I might as well make my maps on the computer too.

Suggestions welcome!

My question is, in your opinion, should I use the standard tabs at the top with minimal custom navigation through links or should I use only links and disregard the OP tabs? Or is there a balance between the two?

Any and all suggestions welcome.

How do I make an actual button instead of it just displaying the words?

When I tested it all it gave was a follow @Maze Controller hyperlink on page.

Code twitter gave me to make a button is:

Follow @MazeController
!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");

I have a custom button I made for it - (not very good) but I will post that next as I want textile off for this post

here is the html for the button - I am guessing I need to combine them somehow?

Hey everyone! I recently joined a new campaign run by one of my friends while my "Avatar":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/avatar_adventures campaign is on break for the holidays, and wanted to see about getting it some spotlight!

The campaign is based in a steam-punk and fantasy style setting, as gnomes recently discovered a technology that led to the making of airships which has revolutionized transportation, culture, and warfare. I have helped out quite a bit with the early coding but the content is all done by the DM, TommyAurelio, and it has been one of the most awesome campaigns i have ever played in! I would highly recommend for anyone to go check it out :)

OK so I have a new game and its taking off well. No stumbling blocks ect. I have some AWESOME stories lined up for it and am making NPC's ect. for it. Now the thing i see coming down the road where I want an organiclly grown story and world, but Im trying to enter these "episode" stories. Anyone have any advice on how to balance this or the pitfalls i might run into?

Hola

First love the site and it looks awsome on my I pad. In fact its so awsome I plan to use it as a place to put all my game info and then use it to run my game. Has anyone done this before? What are the limits in number of wiki pages/storage? Any good advice?

I would like your opinions gents,

I was screwing around making email signatures since I do a lot of correspondence on behalf of the upcoming campaign. I came up with one I liked (version1) but I don't have permission from the artist yet to use it (I have an email out to him.)

So I realized I need to work on a backup and came up with (version 2.)

I then realized that font might be much better for my site overall. The first sig's font agrees with the "BWF":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/bad-wrong-fun banner but I think that I might want to change it to this new font instead.
