Greetings portal people!

I've been absent for awhile because I've been working at SavageMojo as the new community manager and developer for the Pathfinder line. Right now I need some good hands to comb through a wiki that we ported over to the main website. No rules, all setting text. We need some folks who can spot and fix spelling errors, formatting errors, etc.

Now for the fun part. The first five to edit 100 pages of the wiki will receive a free pdf of every product in our catalogue. (I'm very proud to say that I did design work on three of those books!) That means a ton of Savage Worlds stuff and our debut line of Pathfinder works.

Check out the books, the setting and more over at http://SavageMojo.com

If you think you're up for it, let me know via email at loki@savagemojo.com I'm trying to move quickly on this so as to take the new wiki public as soon as it is free of artifacts.

Thanks everyone!

One of the reasons I signed up at OP is because I am just about to start my first pbp game. I've followed several pbp games on different forums, and have an idea of how they play out. I was wondering if anyone here knows of any FAQs, How-Tos, etc., for starting and running a pbp for a first-timer. Also, is OP conducive to a pbp game? I know of one that is currently active. Are there any others that are either active or complete that I could read through as examples?

The Pike’s Peak Gold Rush (later known as the Colorado Gold Rush) was the boom in gold prospecting and mining in the Pike’s Peak Country of western Kansas Territory and southwestern Nebraska Territory of the United States that began in July 1858 and lasted until roughly the creation of the Colorado Territory on February 28, 1861. An estimated 100,000 gold seekers took part in one of the greatest gold rushes in North American history.

The participants in the gold rush were known as “Fifty-Niners” after 1859, the peak year of the rush and often used the motto “Pike’s Peak or Bust.”

Kelly’s Pride is a small gold rush town in the shadows of Pike’s Peak (which is south of Denver) founded in 1852 by Donovan McCallister, a Scottish hotelier from Chicago. Initially, the small town (which wasn’t more than a hotel, general store and saloon) was simply called “Pride”.

In 1854, the “town” was renamed after a showgirl named Kelly Corday, who came through Pride in the spring of 1854 and captured the heart of Mr. McCallister. Some say that the two fell in love, married and Mr. McClallister renamed the town in Kelly’s honor. Others say that Ms. Corday swindled, lied, tricked, and seduced the old man into giving her the town lock-stock-and-barrel and that SHE renamed the town after herself. In any event, Pride, became “Kelly’s Pride” and the Fifty-niners flocked to the town as the gold rush grew and Kelly’s Pride thrived. Today, May 2, 1856, finds you in Kelly’s Pride to seek your fortunes as a Fifty-Niner, a gambler, a ranch hand or rustler of some type. As they say in the saloon, “there’s gold in them there hills!”

If you would like to join Montana's "Kelly's Pride" western RPG, please send me a message. I worry that there aren't enough Aces & Eights players out there so I would be up for using "Savage Worlds" or "Go Fer Yer Gun" RPG.
NOTE: I also a DM on ObsidianPortal.com for a number of other RPG games (Pathfinder, D&D Basic, Traveller, Savage Worlds – Pirates, Savage Worlds – Deadlands, Aces and Eights.)

Greetings All,
A group of Roleplayers in the South Florida (to be more specific within the Miami-Dade Homestead area) has just started a Friday nights adventure and we are seeking a few more to join us upon our misadventures.

About Us: A few good friends, a Roleplaying game, and the desire to share in telling stories of mythological proportions. What else needs to be said?

What You Should Know: We are a group which likes to value everyone's opinion upon what we decide to play. If the current game we play is tantalizing to all members then we just continue playing, but should the itch to try something different ever arise we like to accommodate. Currently we are playing D&D 4.0E -I am running through some published adventures I own- yet once the endeavor is over or a desire to continue unto other systems resonates with everyone at the table we shall move unto something else -which hasn't been decided as of yet. We are easy-going, but do have a desire to experience some epic storytelling, character development, and adventuring. So if you're looking to just chill-and-chat we might not be the group for you. As for everything else about us check us out at https://guardians-of-the-vale.obsidianportal.com to get an idea of who we are.

Hey everyone. Just discovered this site so I hope this post is ok.

Anyways, I'm looking for an online game using microphones for Star Wars Edge of the Empire game. Aka the new system after Saga. (Age of Rebellion would work too)

I'm on the EST timezone but I work nights so staying up late isn't a problem for me at all (In case I play with PST timezoners or something)

I'm free Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Not the best days I know but I work evenings to early mornings from friday to monday so those days are impossible for me.

I speak french and english, have more than 15 years of gaming experience, and I am reliable. What I mean by that is that if i can't make it one night, I will give you the most advance warning that I can. And I'm not the type to drop a campaign midway either.

So if anyone is looking for a player. Let me know.

Have yourselves a nice day!

We are now down to 3 members (including me). As a result we are now looking for up to 3 players to join our group. This game will likely be several months in length, as the plot is quite detailed with many opportunities for side-questing and messing around :) . Most of us are older (between 25-and 40) so we don't mind gaming with older people, but we do ask that all members be at least 18 and have your own transportation.
Hello Interested Party Members,

I am a DM that has refined my gamining system so that it can be played remotely from anywhere as long as you have the following tools:

1. Internet Access
2. Access to Filemaker Go 12 or higher on an iPAD or Filemaker Pro 12 or higher on any computer platform
3. Access to MapTools freeware on rptools.net
4. Able to commit to a once a month committment with the possibility of more or less depending on the group and the scheduling.

I have developed a system where basic mathmatically changes to a characters stats based on effects are automated leaving the focus on gameplay and storylines. Though the system is based on created databases and mapping software it is not a video game and still has the old Dungeons and Dragon's style and feel. No knoweldge of the Dungeons and Dragon's version is necessary as the rules are built into the character sheet.

I am lookng to create a remotely playing group to provide a fun and unique gaming experience based on the 3.5 Edition mixed with some alternative resources.

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to plug my wife, "Kathea's":https://www.obsidianportal.com/profile/Kathea excellent World of Darkness game "Hobb's End":https://hobb-s-end.obsidianportal.com/. We are currently 6 sessions into the game and so far we are having a blast.

"Hobb's End":https://hobb-s-end.obsidianportal.com/ is a World of Darkness game inspired by the works of Stephen King. The game starts with our characters at the age of 10-11 using the World of Darkness Innocents rules. We will eventually jump in time to when we are adults and switch to the normal World of Darkness main rules.

The game takes place in a small town in Maine. So far we have dealt with a ghost in an old hotel, a secret government is spying on us and met a strange boy who seems to have physic powers. Two of the characters have physic powers while the rest of the group are normal, if not messed up, kids.

You can check out the characters on the "Group Page":https://hobb-s-end.obsidianportal.com/wikis/the-group. Each character has a lot of background information and some pretty messed up history. It is a world of darkness after all. Some of the character's backgrounds are downright creepy.

Each player has been writing up personal in character journals which you can view on the "Journal Page":https://hobb-s-end.obsidianportal.com/wikis/journals

We also have two game "videos":https://hobb-s-end.obsidianportal.com/ on the main page to give you a feel for the game.

Thursday Night Online Group LF-GM

I think instead of the usual recruitment post I'm going to try something different. The fact of the matter is that over the last six years, since our group start gaming via virtual table top, it has been difficult to recruit people who would be committed to gaming every week. I have no doubt that most people that play pencil and paper games online know first hand how difficult it can be recruiting the right people. Bottom line, we just want some good reliable people to game with every week. To share in the adventure with us, to chat with, to laugh with, and yes even argue with if it's something important. Quality people is what we are looking for. Not the rage quitters, power gamers, munchkins, or the gawd awful annoying folk that seem to lurk around like trolls under a bridge waiting to pounce on the next unsuspecting game that comes by. My vision is simple and yet because of my experience with pnp gaming online it seems almost impossible. A group of 5-6 people who meet like clockwork every week to play the games they love and who enjoy each others company. I guess I'm still optimistic though because if I wasn't I'd just give up and play some stupid mmo.

So with all that said here is the pitch.

We are a stable group that has been together for six years. We are all over 30 years old. We enjoy many genres, but fantasy is the favorite. We are open to playing most systems or games though there are a few we aren't interested in. We've played a lot of Savage Worlds over the years though over the last couple years we've become very interested in the Pathfinder system and the adventure paths. Our virtual table top of choice is MapTool, but we are open to trying others provided they are as user friendly. We use Skype for voice chat, so a working mic is a must. If you've never used voice chat in game before all I can say is don't worry. It makes the games go faster and the jokes a lot funnier.

Since most of the group works our schedule is tight. That being said though we have some how managed to game on pretty much the same night at the same time every week. Our game time is Thursday 8pm to 1am Eastern Time Zone. This can be tough for some, but if you love to game like we do then you make the sacrifice of a few hours of sleep that night...or take a nap before hand like a few of us do on occasion.

Now here comes the real kicker that has had our group unsure of the future lately. What this group needs more then anything is a good lead GM. Some one who loves running games and wants run most of the campaigns. This seems to be the toughest person to find. I'm of the opinion, and I'm sure many will agree, that you have to have a love of Game Mastering to be a good one. Probably tons of GMs out there who would love this group too, the trouble just seems to be finding one. You don't need to be the most experienced either. Just have a love of gaming like we do. That said we won't be bringing in new players until we've found a new GM, which just makes sense. Apologies to all the players out there, but we gotta find a new GM first. Players are honestly a dime a dozen, but a good GM is rare like a pink unicorn or a sane gnome.

So to sum up.
-Looking For: Lead GM
-Game Time: Thursday 8pm to 1am EST
-Virtual Table Top: MapTool (or something better)
-Voice Chat: Skype
-Game/System: Open for discussion.

If the time works for you and you are interested in joining a stable group as our lead GM send me a private message and we'll get this ball rolling.

Thanks for reading and good gaming everyone.

Hello everyone! My name is PapaRik, or RikazeMA, or Rikaze, or Rik, or Rika, and sometimes just my plain ol' name for people I play with and who get to know me. =)

I'm new to Obsidian Portal, currently participating in a campaign and was introduced to the site and its tools as a whole by the group I'm currently playing with.

Now, I have a problem. See, the group I'm playing with, we're playing Exalted 2.5e. I'm familiar with White Wolf, and have both played and ST'd WoD before, but hadn't played Exalted before now...

My problem? I'm absolutely hooked on it. I've fallen totally and utterly in love with the game and setting, and, you know... One game just isn't enough. I need another. But I've had trouble finding any on this website or otherwise.

I've 15 years in tabletop games in various roles, GM, DM, Storyteller, player, and even occasionally just fascinated observer. I'm looking most likely for an Online game; Where I live, it's hard enough to find ANYONE who plays tabletop, as for a long time here it still fell under the whole "Dungeons and Dragons groups are Satanic Cults!" visage from back in the 70's and 80's. Yes, that stigma still exists to an oddly staggering degree where I live, and it's made finding games really difficult. It's troublesome for me, because I'm too young to remember where that particular stigma towards Tabletop Players comes from.

What I'm looking for specifically - A once-a-week group, though more than once a week is certainly welcome, using the Exalted system and the Creation/Vanilla setting. Using the other realms, Malfeas, Yu Shan, what have you, doesn't bother me. I don't have a strong enough grasp on the system itself yet to do anything like Exalted Modern or other off-shoots of the game as published by White Wolf; There's still a LOT I'm wrapping my head around with standard Exalted right now.

I'm looking for an online group, not a RL one; I know enough Tabletop players around here to throw a group together, I've just been unable to generate interest in the game as most of the folks I know are wrapped up in two or three other games at a time, and usually DnD or another off-shoot of DnD D20. Plus, I seem to be the only person I know around here who's any experience in Exalted at all, and I've not nearly enough understanding of the setting yet to try ST'ing a game myself.

I'm not looking for a particular flavor; Homebrew and such doesn't bother me, as I've little or no frame of reference for what's good and what isn't within Exalted, and I'm fairly adaptable to any style of game that gets played, whether it's Diplomacy, Intrigue and Plotting, or Combat, Glory and Conquest, I've my ways of playing all flavors of games, though some are certainly stronger than others.

I'm not looking for Play-by-Post. I've never had good experience with that, and frankly, posting one move at a time is nothing short of infuriating for me; I feel like it takes WAY too long to get even a single dialogue done, forget about combat or the need for two characters to have a long discussion/argument/what-have-you.

I'm looking for a group that doesn't mind a little hand-holding and explanation-giving, as I'm still new with the setting and the particulars of the system when it comes to Exalted. Before my other campaign, it'd also been maybe 5-8 years since my last run at a White Wolf game at all, so I'm pretty rusty on the mechanics side of things, as well as just entirely inexperienced with certain parts of the system and setting altogether.

Hope some of you can maybe help me find an Online game of Exalted! I like this site, it's a wonderful Tabletop tool and I intend to use it the next time I run a campaign, RL or otherwise. I look forward to making use of the tools and running some awesome games with those tools and the streamlining they offer towards the logistics of running a tabletop. In the meantime, let's see if I can't find another Online Exalted game! =D

Nice to meet ya'all, and thanks for your help!

Looking for players -- Dresden Files

Hi!

I'm John, and I'm looking to GM a Dresden Files campaign. It's been a while since I last played, but I've been re-reading the books to prepare myself for posting this very message. Hopefully it nets me some players.

To begin with, I've not edited the campaign page much (or at all, really). That is by design. With Dresden Files, so much of the campaign set-up is collaborative, I want the campaign page to reflect the creativity, input, and effort of the group -- not just some guy sweating over his laptop in the freakin' Texas heat. Like the book describes, I'd like to create the city and faces as a group -- it's a party for all of the people!

The method of play is pretty simple. In an earlier campaign I ran, we used an instant messenger with a group chat as the main RP window, with one-on-one IM's used in the event that the group split, an OOC question came up, or any other time there was a need for a measure of secrecy. For dice rolls . . . I had used a fudge dice roller I found online, and then trusted my players. I know some may think that naiive, but if you can't trust your players, why are they there?

Scheduling is pretty open, though I'd prefer to play on a Saturday. What time on Saturday (or Sunday) is up for negotiation. It'd have to take place on a weekend, though, as I work pretty demanding hours Monday through Friday.

In closing, please let me know if you'd be interested in playing! Send me a message or a friend request (or whatever it is they call it on Obsidian Portal), and we'll talk!

Hi everyone! I've been wanting to play a Dresden Files game for a while now and have been actively looking for a GM for a couple of weeks and finally found someone who is willing to run something. He's currently set me to rounding up players and gauging interest in the game.

Currently nothing is decided upon. We'll likely be doing city/character creation as a group, as per the norm. If you're interested please feel free to email me at warren.tommy@gmail.com so that I can begin to gauge the number of players we might have.
Right now I have no experience in playing RPGs, so my quick question is this: Is it OK if I were to sit in on a campaign and learn how everything works?
If not, I understand completely, and I'm sorry. If it is, then consider me interested.
