I'm starting up my campaign "Outremer":https://outremer.obsidianportal.com/ in July, and am looking for one (possibly two) player(s) to round out the roster. Since we aren't in a hurry, I figured I'd start looking within the OP community before moving out to recruit elsewhere.

Feel free to visit the campaign site linked above, and ask any questions you like either here or via private message.

The game is being run online in Play-by-Post format, so anyone interested should be fairly comfortable with writing as the medium for gameplay. The game system is Fate Core, which is a narrative-focused, intuitive system. I'm still somewhat new to the system myself, so newbies are welcome and we can learn the system together.

Is anybody out there playing Nightbane online? I have been looking for so long for a group to play with. Not looking for a mashup with Rifts, PFRPG, or HU. Just want a straight up Nightbane game. Either play-by-post or chat is fine. I've looked on the forums and the many other game registries out there. Every time I think I found what I'm looking for everything just falls apart, usually before it even starts. What is a player to do? If this post goes against the rules for this wall I apologize.

hey everyone!
here's my deal:
if i can't find a game that i can play in, then i'll create my own. set in eberron since i like clockwork stuff and airships and whatnot. following the rules, but not so much to limit everyone having fun. my imagination is deep, and i know my gm style will be something you'll look fwd to every sunday night.
i'll be starting with a from-the-ground adventure.
the founding player characters will come armed with excitement about their roles. time to go deep. time to take a level 1 and run with people to 20.
mature players please (as mature as d&d dorks can be, anyway).
the cap is going to be 4 at first.
possible recording of gameplay.
the point is to decompress and have fun doing magic and/or swords on sunday night. so, start hollering at me to play!

I'm running a new World of Darkness campaign from their book Innocents about children in the WoD setting. My campaign is called Innocents Lost (super original I know) and I'm only just started putting NPC's and the like into here but I would love a place to go over plot idea's and stuff and this sounded like an awesome site for all that. I'm going to guess the general discussion section is where that sort of thread should be posted?
Anyways it's a please to be a part of this awesome site :D

"A Hero's Odyssey":https://a-hero-s-odyssey.obsidianportal.com/wikis/main-page
A Hero’s Odyssey is a FATE Accelerated game that takes place in a world of fantasy similar to those found in some of the most beloved RPG’s of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System era, such as, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy III, Secret of Mana, and Breath of Fire. The game is a Play-by-Post style game played exclusively here on Obsidian Portal.

In addition to simply playing in this world of fantasy I want to have the world build around the characters so there will be an element of World building. Not only will players get the opportunity to set facts through their Aspects as normal, but also they will have a say in what the world and story will become over time.

This game will accept players of ANY experience level. Never played Fate Accelerated? That's okay, neither have I! Been playing Fate for more than a decade? Awesome, I'll probably ask you a lot of questions!

Hi everyone

I'm new to the site(some hours) so maybe i'm saying something already said(and i really hope this is the right place to talk about this, if not i'm really sorry).

Well, first of all i want to apologize beforehand for any error i might type down , as a non native speaker .
Secondly , here's the idea(but a little incipit first):

i have played GDR (mostly d&d/pathfinder) for quite the years now , even i don't remember precisely (11 years maybe?).
One of the thing that i have loved the most about this kind of games is that , as in the real world, everything you do (or at least the most important thing ) will remain in the world you are playing in.
Unfortunately for various reason ( character with a level too high; missing the time for a long campaign; the will to play only "one shot"/short term stories; changing often the ambientation) it happens that your character deeds goes lost, or hybernater(or worse forgotten) for who knows how long, and the same happen to the worlds. What happen to the king you have resqued? The evil lich lord will return claiming vengeance?and more importantly, wht about that druid of yours that you loved so much ?
Obviously in a long term campaign a master can go on the story, allowing the char to reach allways highter level and kind of adventure , but in mine experience i've allways noticed how even the most skilled GM can follow only some storyline simultaneusly well enought to give any one of them(the storylines) the right dept.( ok the king is saved and keep on his just ruling, but what the other countries? , the missing of the king affected them i some way? The lich lord is defeated but he threatened more than one kingdom, did every kingdom sent )

Probably i'm overthinking and just making a big fuss of it , but a desire of mine in the last years was to create a word were more than one party (and more than one game master ) live and venture, and that the various quests affect the world itself(in various degree of importance of course)
(using the early examples : the king is saved (party #1) and keep on ruling the kingdom . Unfortunately while paty#1 was traveling and fighting with the pourpose of freeing the king ,in the neighboring kingom party #2 was fighitng against an army o gnolls, and they managed to push the army back! Army that is now aiming at a kingless kingdom hugry of vengeance on the humans and on conquest!!! will party # 3 succeedin protecting the kingdom while party #1try rescuing the king?)

long story short(yea i'm sorry i wrote too much) i'd like to create a world that it's really alive and changing with the choice, wictory and death of the various characters, and i'm looking for game masters eager to try this experiment with me.
Obviously the only fixed thing is the starting background and guiding line of the world that must be one and only one for the purpose of ideological unity . everything else is in the hand of the masters

So, in addition to belive i'm not that right in the head(you're absolutely right) what do you think about it? anyone want to try and join me?

fell free to ask about anything (especially since i probably wrote in a way that it's easy to understand only inside my head)

Greetings, everyone! My name is Travis, but everyone calls me Rykros. I've been playing RPGs since around the time I was a freshman in high school which puts me at roughly 15 years of experience. But as many of you all know, after graduating from high school and/or college everyone eventually separates to lead their own lives. I was lucky enough that in the past year or so, I've managed to connect back with many of my old roleplaying friends, and I've managed to start a new campaign over VOIP software. As you can quickly assume, this creates some major hurdles such as organization and lack of even the simplest visual aids. Luckily, one of my friends introduced me to Obsidian Portal, and I've fallen in love! It's everything that I've ever wanted to document our adventures and keep track of the many fine details I often insert into my campaigns.

But, this has come at a price. Obsidian Portal's CSS-based system is quite Greek to me. I'm vaguely familiar with HTML and phpBB and I can get by, but CSS has me stumped. It's going to be a steep learning curve, but as long as I can get some simple understanding of the coding to help me with the visual aesthetics of my OP Page then I'll be as happy as a Dwarf with a drink.

It's nice to meet everyone, and I hope to spending a lot of time around here. Please, feel free to ask my any questions or send me a message.

Hello,
Who we are
We run a weekly D&D game at our home between exits 10 & 11 off of rte 3 on the South Shore of MA. We meet every Saturday (with some few exceptions) from 10 am to whenever enough people have left to call it a night. We have stopped as early as 5pm, and as late as 1am. The game has been running for several years although the players have changed as folks move, schedules change, etc., as has the game system (Classic->AD&D->2nd edition->3rd->3.5->4E->Pathfinder) over the years.

We currently have seats available in our Classic Dungeons & Dragons campaign.
We get off track, laugh, make obscure Monty Python references and generally have a good time. For us, KotDT could be a personal blog.
As often as possible in the good weather we play outside in a dreaded gazebo.

Who we're looking for
Players who can commit to a weekly Saturday game from 10am on. Obviously life happens but we like to play as often as we can. We believe in the motto "the game must go on."
You can't be allergic to cats. You must fear nothing (except turtles). Ok, that last part is optional.
Knowledge of the game is not required; a desire to have fun is.

Please contact me if you have any interest in playing.

The campaign is set in Dorne, and we will be kicking things off on March 29th. Its play by post for the most part, with some occasional online sessions thrown in. Our campaign is set in Dorne, and coincides timeline-wise with the end of Season 3 for HBO's show. We are a pretty laid back group, and I'm looking for a couple of folks interested in helping us collaborate on some cool stories/adventures to join us. If you find this after March 29th, stop on by anyway- we are just finalizing the household family by that date, but can always find room for someone- or they can adopt the role of one of the family if they prefer.

Star Trek, Lionheart is a systemless pbp/pbem rpg that takes place in the original Star Trek universe. The year is 2380, one year after the events in the motion picture Nemesis and the game takes place on board a Chariot class starship, a non-canon design. Which brings me to the point of Canon. (Almost) anything that took place in the various television series and motion pictures is considered canon. Except Enterprise. That series never happened. If you are wondering about early Star Trek history I would say the highly talented people at The Starfleet Museum have fashioned a far superior history of the pre-TOS ’Trek universe.

Some people who might want to join the game will wish to play Marines. There are no Marines in this game. Why? Well, I once wrote a blog article about it, but to keep it brief here I do not see a need for them. Marines simply are not necessary in this game. Neither are civilians. This is not a Galaxy class star ship, it is not a cruise liner. There are no families or civilians on board.

What about non-canon races? You are going to have to work very, very hard to convince me. I have seen some ridiculous races role played in games and I do not want to deal with fictional species.

What about canon races, what can you play? I am flexible..up to a point. No ultra powerful races like the Q. No recovered Borg. If you want to play a Trill, surprised me and play one that isn’t joined to a symbiote. You want to play an obscure species like an Angosian super soldier? Ain’t gonna happen.

What can you play? Right now we have openings in Operations, and Medical. If you have an idea for a position pass it by me, I am always open to hear ideas.

What can you expect? I do not want this to be a game about war but at the same time I know people like action and adventure and that is what I am hoping to provide. I hope to provide some problem solving and mystery as well. If you would like to know more, please visit the site:

Sixth World scholars have long hypothesized the cyclical nature of magic. For years corporations, collectors and other factions have spent fortunes hunting down surviving relics of this mythical age. The shadows whisper of lost lore and a secret history to the world. A privileged few have come into possession of ancient items of great power and mysterious purpose, artifacts from before recorded history. Now it’s your turn...
----------------------------------------
As the above blurb and title indicate, this campaign will focus primarily on the "Dawn of the Artifacts" campaign released by Catalyst a few years back. Yeah, I'm behind the times. What do you do?

Ideally this would serve as a springboard for a longer, homebrew campaign. Right now, I'm just trying to gather interested players. Time and location are semi-negotiable. I'm in Naperville, and have a pretty good game area in my house, but I'm open to other locations. Fair Game in Downers Grove, Emmett's Ale House is pretty supportive of the gaming crowd (for a public restaurant). I'm open to other suburbs as well, anything that's easily accessible from I-355. Downers Grove is nice because it's fairly easy to access from the city, if folks are up for a train ride.
If you're interested, drop me a line.

Hello! So, my group is seeking 1-2 players for our Space Opera merc team game. Called Starborn: Galactic Mercenary, this is a setting our group has used for a few years now, and has become very solidly defined and ripe for all sort of interesting and fun adventure. The overall tone and style is similar to a Firefly, or Cowboy Bebop style space opera featuring a ragtag group of scoundrals, smugglers, bounty hunters, and rogues, operating just a little south of the law, for fame, fortune, and the love of money. A lot of the lore and background can be found on our campaign page here: https://starborn-galactic-mercenary.obsidianportal.com

We play online via virtual tabletop (Maptool) with a Ventrillo server. The Basic game set-up is to use Maptool for all visual references, dice rolling, and the text chat as a means of text-based roleplay. Basically, the RP/IN-Character storytelling will live in the text chat and the virtual tabletop, while we use the Ventrillo server for all other communication and socializing thoughout the game session. We're Going to be meeting Sunday Evenings, from about 5:30 to 11:30 EST

Currently we have 3 set players, 1 still undecided, plus our GM, and will be using the Fate Core system with a few additional extras to represent the setting' psionics (which aresimilar to Mass Effect's Boitics). We're looking for 1-2 players to fill out the "Crew",possibly 3 if our 4th undecided player drops out.

Our three players have characters completed, and to be as brief as possible, fulfill the following roles: The Gadget Maker/Mechanic, The Hacker, and the Brawler/Ex Mob Enforcer. There's plenty of opportunity to fill out many different roles, including the ever-important Ship's PIlot!

I'll be more than happy to any any question about the game it's setting and it's lore. Looking forward to finding a few good people to join us!

I am looking to run a weekly pathfinder campaign using the Wrath of the Righteous adventure path. To facilitate this we will be using raidcall, for voice chat, and roll20 for a virtual tabletop.

Currently I am looking at Wednesday or Sunday evenings, sometime between 6pm-10pm est to start, and it being a 4 hour or longer block. More specific times to be determined as I get people signed up and see what works best for the group. Start date to be determined when we have the players and schedule worked out.

If you would be interested in taking part send me a pm. I would note that one potential player is new to tabletop games, so some patience is likely to be required.

Hello Portal! (Fellow Portaliers? I Can't remember what we decided on a year ago...)

There have been a lot of things recently that have got me a-thinking. (Gee, really? - Oh god, not with the parentheticals again). Arsheesh had mentioned earlier today that around a year ago, there was a Renaissance of sorts on the Portal - lots of folks were talking about their art projects, cartography skills and the like. There were some great threads and some even greater artists. I keep wondering why those dissapeared, but that's not important, because I'm determined to bring them back.

I was discussing this with gaaran tonight, while working on a project for AugustusGloop - he had asked for a banner for his campaign and I gladly agreed - if you catch me right I can be silly agreeable sometimes. I'm always willing to help out, but in certain moods I will take on absolutely rediculous projects. Gaaran resents me (in an amused sort of way, I hope) for it because I procrastinate on my campaign while I work on the other, new projects.

What I'm proposing here, I suppose I should get to the point sometime before people start mentally going tl:dr on me, is that I'd like to create a Work Exchange post, where the community can build on each other's strengths, people can have fun, check out each other's artwork, prose, and coding design. We always help each other out, and I dont think that will ever stop, but what I'm thinking is something more. Someone needs a banner design, but they cant work with photos for some reason. No problem! Post it here. Offer something in trade that you are good at as a gesture of goodwill.

I propose the following: Feel free to make requests, but try to keep in mind the complexity of the request, and offer up something in return of equal (approximate) value. Obviously this is just a first cut of how this might work (and I've seen it work very well in other places on the web), and I'm very open to suggestions here.

For example...

My primary strengths lie in:
Photo manipulation/image editing
Page Layout
Poetry (Just ask JonVolks - I can almost make Bon Jovi readable! :) )
Character motivation
Devious planning
Snark

My weaknesses:
Fluff creation

A perfect example is my campaign, "Dark Queen of the West":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/the-dark-queen-of-the-west/wikis/the-game

It is quintissential form, function, without meaningful content. I have space for content, but not the gumption to actually write something worth reading. I'd be willing to trade image editing work for some fluff pieces I could use in my campaign - fake news articles on covertly strange happenings, old legends found on scraps of paper, anything I can get. I can guarantee, if this kicks off, and anyone needs images put together, I will be VERY willing to volunteer my services. I mean, just look at the site gaaran and I have been working on. I think it's pretty spiffy :)

Thoughts? Requests?

Hoping to find some kind souls willing to teach as they go along, since I'm more of a hands-on person. Personally prefer Fantasy settings, but since I'm new, I'll try almost anything (except those of horror/extreme gore variety).

Hey I'm Shane, new to Obsidian Portal but not to D&D. I'm not a new to the game itself, but I understand many DM's have their own style of how to roll a character, and all I really have to say is have patience with me because when it comes to numbers lets just say I have intelligence mod of 0 or -1. That's just with numbers though, once I get into the habit of doing the math repetitively I usually jump to it. Now I'm stationed in Ft.Lewis so I don't have anyone to play D&D with, so a friend of mine recommended this site. Any tips or how too's would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

*Update* Well, I got a lot more applications than I thought I would in such a short amount of time. I'm afraid I'm no longer taking them. Good luck to everyone looking for a game.

Kyron, the Red King is recruiting allies to aid him in his mission to destroy an organization that threatens the safety of his world, the lives of the Gods, and the stability of Creation. If you wish to join his quest, you have only to ask.

You can come to a world that is a future of our own, long destroyed and reforged by magic and dragon’s fire. It is a tight mixture between science fiction and fantasy, with plenty of room for sword-wielding knights, dusty Gunslingers, bearded wizards, arcane cyborgs, or even talking dogs. You will join Kyron on Shasva, his spaceship orbiting the dead Earth in the future so distant, it lies beyond the reaches of time. From there you can go to almost any place and time.

(A bit of a redundant post, but I wanted to make contact with the City folks as well)

So, I’ve been watched “Being Human” (US Version). Don’t judge me! If you haven’t seen it, it’s a decent (but not great) TV show about a Werewolf, a Vampire, and a Ghost sharing a house in Boston. No, really. Yeah, I’d have liked to be there for that script pitch as well. But hey, they’ve made 4 seasons in the US and 5 in the UK, so I guess it’s working for them.

Anyway….. So it’s got me hankering to play some World of Darkness. Haven’t played in many, many years. But I’ve got some campaign ideas for a multi-genre crossover game, big epic campaign kind of thing. However, while I have nothing but time at the moment, before I invest energy in fleshing out a campaign I figured I’d see if anyone is actually interested in getting a campaign up and running.

My preference would be the suburbs, specifically my house in Naperville, but I'm open to other alternatives. There are a couple of good commercial spots in Downtown Downers Grove that we could game at (right off the BNSF Metra), or I'd be up for a Chicago location if it's reasonably accessible by public transit from the burbs (or ride arrangements could be made from the station).

Right now my schedule is wide open, but come spring probably weekends and evenings would be best (I'm a civil engineer laid off for the winter).

If anyone is interested, shoot me a note, and let's talk.
Here’s the skinny:

Play frequency: Probably Twice Monthly.
Play Time: Weekday Evenings, or anytime Weekend.
Play Location: Variable, but I have a pretty good place at my house in Naperville.
Genre: Any Classic World of Darkness archetype. This includes Vampire, Mage, Werewolf, Demon, Wraith, Changeling (Fae), Hunter, Mummy, Prometheus (we’d figure a way to back into the classic rules from new) and Immortals (yes, someone made Highlander rules, and they aren’t half bad).
Other: We’d run with Revised where available. I’m not a rules lawyer, so we can tweak if we have to. I do require a player to have a copy of the core rule book for the archetype they want to play. Digital versions are available by way of Drive Thru RPG. Core books run between $15 and $20, and character sourcebooks run between $5 and $10.

If you're interested, shoot me a message.
