Hi there!

I've been using this great portal for six months now, but only as a player. Now I'm planning to start a new Dresden Files RPG (FATE) campaign (http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/vancouverfiles/wikis/home-page , don't be alarmed, it's not a demon invocation, just Russian) with Vancouver, BC, Canada, as a setting. However my knowledge of Vancouver relies on wikipedia and tv shows, so if anyone here is lucky enough to live in this city I would appreciate an opportunity to interrogate you. :) If you're up for it, contact me via e-mail 'leeder87 AT gmail DOT com' or via e-mail in my profile.

A few words about me. I'm a programmer, age 25, based in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Married, my wife and I have a daughter. My tabletop RPG experience counts 12 years (mostly D&D 3.5, Old WoD and Legend of the Five Rings 3ER, but I like to explore all sorts of games), and I have participated in the organization of Rolecon (the first Russian TRPG convention) and worked with Studio 101 (Russian game publisher). More on that here: http://www.jennisodes.com/podcasts/russian-pnp
If you're up for a casual chat, feel free contact me too - I welcome a chance to practice my English. :)

I've been lurking on OP for a long while now, and my group has over the course of our last several games started to use OP more and more.
I'm a long time GM/DM for my group, but as of this moment I am a player in the current(June) CoTM "Rise of the Dead":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/rise-of-the-dead .

I just wanted to say hello, and that I plan on making my first wiki for one of my games. I am hoping that when I post it up for review I can
get some opinions/help/critiques on how to make it better, or just another viewpoint outside of Kettle & Kathea's.
Thanks, and hello again. :)

'm looking for players interested in a gritty, post-apocalyptic space setting. Read the following to get a feel for it. I plan on doing a lot of player-driven story, so you'll have your own spin on the setting

(Working title for the setting is Waste Space.)

The game is set in the far future, where the human race has taken refuge in large, derelict space stations around the galaxy. Earth is but a distant memory; humankind lives on the scraps and crumbs left behind by a once great civilization that has crumbled to dust centuries ago. People make do with the debris and spare parts they can find; remnants of when humankind lived in a technological paradise. Our Golden Age is over; all that's left is bits and pieces.

The stations would be isolated from each other if it wasn't for one communications protocol that is still functional, simply called the Network. It is not perfect; as with everything else in the Waste Space, technology is a luxury. But when it works, it enables the stations to keep in contact and work together to better the lives of their inhabitants.

The players are a rescue/investigative team sent out to investigate why certain space stations no longer are in contact with the main Network. But the team isn't your typical tight-assed space marine crew; teams are often made up of people who have nothing else in their lives, people who really need the cash or really need to get away from something. Usually, they're an undisciplined rag tag group of people that are forced together to keep stations up and running.

The reason for Network dropouts are many; sometimes, the problem is simply technical, but most of the time, there's something dangerous or weird going on, and more often than not, it is not a pretty situation.

Living in space stations has a peculiar effect on people. They tend to get weird and unpredictable. Sometimes, the inhabitants of a station decide to cut the connection to the Network because of social issues; maybe they have started a fanatic cult. Maybe some power-hungry maniac has taken control of the station somehow. Maybe the technicians who took care of Network maintenance have all been killed off under mysterious circumstances.

A lot can go wrong on a space station, which means that the rescue team needs to have a wide range of skills. Sometimes, what's needed is smarts and knowledge, sometimes the situation calls for social intervention . And sometimes, inhabitants need to be taken out of the equation the hard way.
When the team enters a space station that hasn't been in contact for a while, they'd better be ready for anything.

Getting to know the Waste Space universe

There are thousands of stations in all shapes and sizes, all of them leftovers from a time when the human race was still on the rise. On most stations nowadays, even basics like food and water can become scarce. Other stations still have completely functional computer systems and working eco-systems; those stations are few, and they are called Edens.

The first session of the game should be used for character creation and the creation of the characters' own space station. This should be a group exercise. It will help you get an idea of what the players are looking for in the game. Make the players' space station as big as it needs to be in order to handle all the diferent characters the players come up with. Then have them fill out the blanks; how the disparate elements are tied together and why.

The main villains of Waste Space are the evil Drazee, a race that feeds on human flesh and blood. When they attack a space station, they jam the communications relays. Sometimes the residents are in the middle of a battle of life and death with the Drazee; other times, it's a clean-up gig. If a space station has managed to contain the Drazee, there will be major damage to the station, security issues and personnel problems. If the Drazee have taken over the station, they'll stay there and make the station their nest. Then the gig is all about getting rid of them. Bug-hunt, as rescue teams call them.

Every game session introduces a new space station with new challenges, twists and goals for the players. The story takes place in the corridors, tubes and rooms of different space stations, but they are never the same, neither layout-wise nor challenge-wise. The game is not an action-oriented space combat game; that being said, it is always a good idea to cover all possible scenarios. Be prepared.

That's it. Regarding rules, I am open to ideas; one of the Fate sci-fi games would be neat, but also stuff like Apocalypse World and even a hack of Dogs in the Vineyard could work. I am a rules-light GM, but nothing's been set in stone regarding rule sets.

(Oh, if you have a good idea for which rules would fit this setting best, please leave a comment)

Hello everyone,
So my brother and I have been playing shadowrun over e-mail for about half a year now, and we decided to start using this site after seeing it on penny arcade. Unfortunately, there is pretty much no way on this site to browse through active campaigns, and even searching shadowrun just brings up a list of every shadowrun campaign, ever, in alphabetical order, unfortunately putting our game on like the 7th page.

So, I just thought I would see if I could drum up some interested readers in the forum.

http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/threeshadow/adventure-log

And to the people in charge, these should be the first changes you make to the site! I don't see the point of a website to host campaigns if you can't even browse through them! Campaigns under the "Campaign" tab and the ones that come up in a search should be organized by recent activity and rating, not alphabetically!

Greetings, all. My DM instincts have been stirring lately, and I'd like to start a new online Realms campaign using Maptool (a free to use virtual tabletop, for those who don't know). Some familiarity with the Forgotten Realms (the world of Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, etc) is preferred.

4E ruleset taking place in the post-Spellplague Realms of 1479. I am houseruling a few features: tieflings will be the traditional variety (that is, mostly humanoid but with some fiendish features). Dragonborn and Tymanther will exist, but the campaign will largely ignore them if I can help it; I accept the addition of Dragonborn, but I don't particularly like them. The campaign will begin in the Moonsea region, but where it goes on will depend on the party's choices.

Game time will vary, as my work hours are variable. This was the case with my last Maptool campaign, however, and doodle.com made aligning schedules easy. Most likely, count on games in the afternoon or evening hours EST.

If interested, post here or message me. If you use some kind of messaging software, such as AIM, Skype, etc, let me know your contact info so we can get in touch.

I've technically been part of OP since early 2011 when I first put on the DM's hood but I didn't think to introduce myself until now. See, I'm starting a new campaign and with that came a few changes. One being that I'm spending a lot of time creating the world and its wiki. I'm refreshing my CSS skills slowly but surely by customizing my campaign. And I'm also backing the Kickstarter because some of the features I saw listed were some I wanted in 2011.
So I figure I'll be around awhile.... so, hello! Once the campaign gets off the ground I may switch it to public, but for the moment it's still in its zygote days.

Greetings Everyone,
While I am new to the RPG crossing community I am an avid role-player and am currently seeking to run a particular game I have had in mind for some time.

The game is a modern horror/supernatural investigation campaign where the players will be charged with beating back the darkness from the light of humanity.

As I said, I've had this game in mind for some time and the reason I have yet to run the game is that I was unable to settle on a system that I felt captured exactly what I was looking for. A few weeks ago I set out to create the system I wanted and settled on a, somewhat, hacked version of the Dragon AGE system that I am referring to as 'AGE of Darkness'.

Therefor the campaign would serve two distinct purposes; the foremost of which is to tell a fun and enjoyable story for all, but the underlying purpose would also be to alpha/beta test my AGE of Darkness system. To this extent I need players who are interested in participating and providing feedback and ideas on matters of the game system as well as the game's setting.

The game would take place completely online; primarily through the use of a voice chat system (Skype/Google+ Hangout) with the potentially occasional use of roll20.net, which you do not need a membership to use.
Hi everyone, I'm Kittah

I'm new to the forum but by no means new to gaming
I'm a big computer gamer (go RPGs) and am fond of video games
I've been tabletopping for about 15 years (DnD 2nd Ed, Star Wars, Battletech, Twiilight 200, Cadillacs & Dinosaurs... the list goes on)
I took an extended but by no means solid break from gaming and am back running my very own 4e campaign for a bunch of new players
I'm always on the look out for some great campaign ideas to keep my motley crew engaged (and in line)

Tired of running the shadows in Seattle? In need of a change of scenery? Why not join up with the River City Wrecking Crew?

Tales of the River City Wrecking Crew is a budding Shadowrun 4A campaign set in the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metroplex of 2072. Currently the game is in the planning stages but we'll be making our maiden run on March 30th. To alleviate scheduling and travel headaches, we'll meet every two weeks for the game online through Roll20 and if possible, Google Hangouts so we can all communicate verbally online. We'll also have Facebook, Google+ and a blog page where the game schedule will be posted in addition to the Obsidian Portal page (http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/tales-from-the-river-city-wrecking-crew)

What makes this game different isn't just the locale; it's that it isn’t your average Shadowrun campaign. A lot of times the stereotypical campaign can be described as “mercenary” or “organized mayhem”. “Tales” is intended to be a little more heroic and cinematic. The influences and inspirations of this campaign include Leverage, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel, along with a variety of cyberpunk authors and movies. I think the best way to sum up what I'm going for here is "rogues with hearts of gold".

What I'm also looking for is an emphasis on roleplaying, keeping the min-maxing to a... er... minimum ;)

As I'm a neophyte Shadowrun GM but long-time lover of the setting, we're going to start out simple, using the character generation rules posted here: http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/tales-from-the-river-city-wrecking-crew/wikis/character-generation. As time goes on, we can add more books to the library, but we're going to crawl before we walk, etc.

A more in-depth overview of the game concept can be found here: http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/tales-from-the-river-city-wrecking-crew/wikis/campaign-overview. Character generation guidelines are here: http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/tales-from-the-river-city-wrecking-crew/wikis/character-generation.

Two character slots have already been filled. I'll take character submissions up to March 20th whereupon I'll let the lucky players know they've been chosen. As this will be an "ensemble" cast or "troupe-style" game, all others will be put on a waiting list to be contacted when and if players leave and characters die.

So who am I? My name is Dale Meier. I'm a veteran gamer of 27 years, having spent 21 of those as a GM at a variety of home, college and convention games. My interests span a wide variety of genres ranging from historical to science-fiction RPGs as well as some wargames. I was also one of the original contributors to the Interregnum APA in the 1990s. My first experience with RPGs was getting a second hand magenta-boxed Moldvay Basic D&D set at age 12; after that I branched out to WEG's D6 Star Wars RPG. My first GM experience? Running SJG's Toon for a couple of high school friends during Christmas break! XD Since then I've run a wide range of games including Pathfinder, Spycraft 1.0, Traveller, DC Universe, the D6 system, Paranoia, Red Dwarf and Call of Cthulhu.

So if you want to run the shadows of the midwest and see how people live out east in the Awakened frontier of 2072, drop me a line!

*Who Among you Dares to Challenge the High Seas?*
Until all my players can be present, here is the campaign we play in select committee. It's an old AD&D 2ed scenario, but we're playing with the new rules of D&D Next (playtest).

Looking for players

" Hail the Usurper!":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/hail-the-usurper Is an upcoming RPG, hybrid Warfare & Diplomacy strategy/adventure, taking place in the Ancient Kingdom of Alba, "c.1094 AD":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/hail-the-usurper/wikis/timeline, at the very beginning of the War of Three Crowns.

Hail the Usurper's base game-play is cut from D&D's d20 miniatures rule book, a fairly easy to learn and play system which fits this setting quite nicely I feel.

The background & overall setting of Hail the Usurper! Is part fiction, part history, and party mythos or legend, of course many of you might be familiar somewhat with the setting, from William Shakespeare's iconic "Scottish Play", _The Tragedy of Macbeth_, this game (and the actual history) differs greatly from the "Macbeth":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/hail-the-usurper/characters/macbeth we all know, and despise.
