I've been using Obsidian Portal as a player for about two years in the Abderraz campaign, but I've just started using it as a GM to track my games...because to be honest, I get them confused sometimes :D I set two groups in the same world and hope to have them interact indirectly for now, and maybe directly in the future.

I'm looking forward to documenting here and learning from all the other gamers using the site and the forum. I also just started listening to the Haste! podcast this week and am absorbing all the RPG goodness.

I've been gaming since elementary school in the 80's...starting off in the barely-lit basement of the church while my aunt and grandparents were in choir practice...good times. After dabbling in magic, WHFB, 40k, and D&D for a few decades, I discovered Warmachine about two years after it was released. I love the setting and the minis and the system. I tried to use the first edition of the IK RPG (Have almost all the books still), but I had a hard time wrapping my head around the system and mechanics, but the content was worth it just for the fluff. The story hook sections for each monsteronomicon entry were a stroke of brilliance. With this recent edition, I decided to pick it up and it is so much easier to understand and get started quickly. Anyway, I love minis and terrain building so I am an avid advocate of fully painted wargaming and am working on trying to bring that to the RPG to realize in models all of the things that exist in the story...well at least the parts that exist during combats. Since I have an Ultimate License, players that download the software, update it and join into my game(server), there is no license purchase for any and all players. I also use Skype, which is free for Out of Character communication. Fantasy Grounds requires players to type in their actions, which is a part of the application. Grew up in Central Illinois, always been a video game and fantasy fan. Ah, the days of the old “lick and blow” original NES system. LOL

My quest into P-n-P gaming started in 97 or 98 when an old friend of mine introduced me to gaming through the old D6 Star Wars game, which led to me joining his D&D group. He taught me the ins and outs of DMing and my first DMing came as one on one sessions with my(then pregnant) GF in Ravenloft. After moving to Colorado a group formed with me running my wife and a few of her friends from back in high school. Those sessions served as bedtime stories to our kids who would often lay there and listen(and occasionally interject good ideas) to our sessions and fall asleep to them.

Our gaming addiction seems to have rubbed off on our 3 kids(now 12, 13 and 15) as my group I run now consists of me running my wife and our 3 kids(and occasionally a member of our old gaming group when he’s in town) in what has become a day(sometimes 2) a week of good food, good laughs, good times and good fun…all in all a day that our entire household looks forward too.

It has now been brought to my attention that our 15 year old daughter has expressed interest in learning the “Art of DMing” as she puts it. That makes me one proud poppa. LOL

I'm new to all of this OP stuff as I just happened to stumble on it about a month ago. "Pretty neat, maybe I'll give it a try and see if I could get out some of these ideas that have been bouncing in my head for a couple of years"

So far I'm sold! Organizing my articles and linking them into new bits of information is just great and really helps me to invent new stuff as I go along. Why didn't I find this sooner!?

So like I said I've been tossing this idea of combining old school 80's d&d (ADD 2nd edition forever, baby!) with the historical celts while using the Pathfinder rules. It's going to be pretty low-fantasy so no dwarves, elves or seven-headed dragons popping from behind every corner. Our gaming group has been kinda dd 3.5 oriented so I want to up the ante by not only upgrading into (most exellent) Pathfinder but creating a very, very detailed world surpasing our former campaigns. I've been creating the Ferdiad Cycle's wiki for about a week now, trying to keep the articles compact but informative and being very careful with the pictures I'm using (Elmore/Easley/Caldwell/McBride all the way!).

I'd very much appreciate any feedback on this (getting that from my players is like getting water from a stone). I should also point that it's far from being even nearly complete, I'm really hopelessly bad with anything computer-related and as English is not my primary language expect some typos and errors in grammar (haven't proofread it yet, sorry!). I intend to give a bareboned version of everything until the PCs explore the world more. The place they start in is called Aenoria so please check out that and Cerns - the local people. If everything goes well every place should get an article as long as those in time.

Our new game time is Thursday nights from 9pm to 2am Eastern Time. We are looking to have about five hours of game per week. At most we would play until about 3am at the latest. We use Skype for voice chat because online gaming goes a lot faster with voice chat and Skype is our preferred program. We use MapTools (version 1.3.b87) as our gaming table. It's easy to use and free.

As a game master we are looking for people who have game mastering experience, are willing to game master once or twice a month, and willing to use or learn to use MapTools. The genre and system should be something that you as a game master have a passion for and enjoy, but should also be something that interests the players. I'd say as a group we are open to most genres and systems though there are some we'd rather not play.

As a player in our group you'll have to be at least willing to try different systems and settings. I am currently running a homebrew fantasy game using the Savage Worlds system. Others games that are being worked on, but haven't started yet, are a homebrew fantasy using the EABA system and a homebrew game set in the Buffy/Angel universe using Unisystem.

We've been playing together for several years and our group dynamic is very important. With that said be aware that joining us will be on a trial basis as we'll want to get to know you as a player and game master.
