I've posted in another forum, but I realized I hadn't checked in here yet. I just started using OP about a couple weeks ago for a new campaign that some friends and I started for Changeling: the Dreaming. First off, I go by Takissis (or Taki) as a screen name, but I signed in with facebook, so it has my name...pfft. Anyway. **Edit - Woot, figured out how to change that. Guess I should have looked.**

As far as my gaming experience, I've been a pen and paper player since I was 17 starting with D&D 2.0 and then White Wolf's oWoD with Vampire, Werewolf, Changeling, Wraith, Mage and Demon. I got heavily into MMO's back with UO and now with WoW, but Changeling from the oWoD is still my favorite pasttime.

Currently, I am the ST for our CtD game as well as a player for another D&D 3.5 campaign.

25 years after a new hope..................

in a galaxy far far away....................................
A Newhope has passed and a galactic treaty of peace is in alliance
thanks to the efforts of Master Luke Skywalker. Years after the Newhope
Luke began training his first students only to relize his teachings was
much the same of his once Masters Kenobi and Yoda. This initially began
to corrupt his star pupil Kyp Durron for lack of balance of the force,
and now teaches balancing of the force.

With the Jedi Order dismantled the approaches to galactic affairs
unorthadoxed and with a little under a hundred members of the order,
left them wanting to take a more deliberate approach to these affairs.
Han and Leia have since then had younglings of there own Jania, Jacen
and Anakin Solo, which have been trained by their uncle Luke and have
dabbled in the temptations of the darkside.

Mean while Luke also struggles with weather or not to reestablish
the Jedi Order and Rhommamool has requested shipments of gear and
supplies to the new recruitments and to set for the shipment. Not all
recruits are what they seem, Nor Anor has hidden his true identity and
spred seedlings through out the galaxy in recruiting his own hidden
army. Who are these invaders which put the face of the galaxy in a
danger never witnessed, the galaxy is at your hands and the fate is
yours................MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!

Hello Friends,

I am a fairly new player to tabletop RPG and have taught myself the 4th edition. I am currently setting up a campaign and looking for people to play either PbP or MapTools.

I'd like games to run on a weekly or bi-weekly basis on weeknight evenings after 8pm EST.

Besides that, I've been yearning to play with some people for quite awhile and have just about mastered the art of being the GM and PC all in one...however, when you know where everything is, it takes away from the game.

Check out my current campaign, criticism and comments are welcome. I plan on adding more to it on a fairly consistent basis.

Hey all. I'm "new" to OP. I signed up about a year and a half ago but that was right about the time that my gaming kinda quited down. But now we're getting ready to ramp up and I'm getting my feet wet in Pathfinder with their Price of Immortality trilogy of modules.

I'm looking forward to learning from you all on how to make my campaign sites look great and discussing gaming.

hey there just signed up. im currently in process of creating my campain, hope itll be great
i wont be ready for players until ive done a few quests.
but here it is.
its called the rings of power i was stumped for titles lol but is simple and easy to guess what it is about.
but im quite stuck on how to start it. im currently world building drawing the map and typing up the history.
what i hope will make this interesting is that i have included some races form alluria publishing.

Greetings, denizens of the Obsidian Portal.

I have joined this fine community at the behest of my new DM and with but the merest skimming of these forums, I can say without hesitation that I have found a new digital home.
My experience with table top gaming has been scattered throughout the years and often overshadowed by the many forms of digital game, specifically of the MMORPG variety. Last year I dabbled with playing D&D via Skype with some friends on the east coast and recently joined a more local game DM'ed by an old high school friend. This local D&D game is the one what has brought me here.
I must warn you, however, that I fancy myself a writer. Do not be surprised if I start uploading poems or songs about my characters, or 'written by' them, or written in a style inspired by a campaign. I draw inspiration from anywhere I can, and the open ended worlds provided by pen and paper games offer excellent frames to work within. Forsooth, what was intended to be a paragraph or two character background has now exceeded two hundred pages with no sign of ending anytime soon.
Perhaps some day I may even DM my own game, but that bridge shall be crossed at a later date. In the meantime, I believe I will enjoy my time here and just play the games that come my way.

Experience in gurps is not needed we are patient and happy to teach. get you through step by step from character creation to actual game play.

we use fantasy grounds 2 (http://www.fantasygrounds.com) to play so no need to be in my area. I Have an ultimate license which allows unregistered clients to connect (meaning costs is free to use unregistered versions)

I started playing D&D a few years back, and I was in love at first sight. I've been a gamer all my life especially with RPGs and when my friend says hey you wanna play D&D a whole new world opened up for me. Now I haven't played D&D hardcore simply because hardly anyone i know plays or even knows anything about D&D mainly when I first played it was a fluke of a chance and to add insult to injury I ended up moving meaning that friend that loved D&D and I played with went away too. Now since being out of highschool ive finally got all the time to play and a few friends who are interested in playing but another problem arose, none of us knew about being a DM so i took it upon myself to learn and build our campaign which in turn suited my taste since i enjoy writing and creating things of fantasy. I know about the encounters thing thats been going on here recently where card shops or the like have a hosted 2 hour session where you can go play or even DM but I wanted to do this in the comfort of my own home surrounded by my close friends having fun like we did in high school. I'm still learning, and I don't know everything yet but i do know what i want to do with my Campaigns and i guess thats a start.

Hello, all. I just recently moved to the Bloomington/Normal area and am looking for either a local group to join or players willing to create a new one. I have been playing D&D off and on as both a player and DM for the past 9 years. If I need to DM I was considering either running the Scales of War series or an old homebrew campaign I crafted in order to not distract myself too much from working on my master's thesis.

Hey everyone. I'm having trouble understanding how this site works, but maybe that's because I'm overthinking things. Anyways, I mostly played D&D in the past and I wouldn't mind getting into those sorts of games, but I'm also fairly open to new games. I've been a part of three or four separate campaigns at this point, most of which have fallen flat. However, my current campaign has gone on long enough for me to obtain a prestige class; said class being Assassin. I enjoy the imaginative allure of D&D, however I can't say that I'm too fond of the story in which my campaign has been following. It's entirely the DM's fault, considering he's only added maybe...20% of original ideas to it. Everything else, including the dungeons, quests, enemies, weapons, items, etc. is added by default through the books. It's as though he isn't even trying to story tell. At a few points throughout our campaign, I've actually fallen asleep.

So, I thought I'd give online campaigns a shot. Understand that I'm not an expert at D&D, so if I join a campaign and certain rules go over my head, don't be surprised.

Hi, I been lurking for a while as I fleshed out my game world to work well on the system i have chosen. Love the site so far and absolutely love the inspiration I get from reading others works on the site.
this site will really help manage my games as use the VTT fantasy grounds 2 to play. so it will allow me to centralize game information between players no matter where they are.
now i can only collect regular players i'd be ready to roll.

Hi everyone. I'm new to the Obsidian Portal. I literally was just told about it by a friend & I adore the idea! I'm 23, & if a game is in my area, even better. Otherwise, I'm fine with trying this playing online (if that's what OP is also for?).
I've played D&D 3E & 3.5 since they each came out.
I tried 4E a couple of times & it is definitely 200% not my thing!!
What I love is **Pathfinder**. I've been wanting to try GURPS, Star Wars, Exalted, RuneQuest (& really anything that isn't 4E) as well. I'm open & willing to learn a new system & see if it's something I like. That said, I love characterization & roleplaying too. Rich settings, with chances to play characters, not just warriors.
I tend to play druids, sorcerers, & witches. But I've played most of the other classes. We all have our favorites haha.
I come here mainly looking for a Pathfinder campaign that would like a player.
I'm happy to come to OP. Who knows what I'll find?

Greetings. Thought I'd have a slightly more informative subject for an intro thread.
I'm a long time gamer whose played a lot of systems. I've a prefference for narrative and independents. Favourite is probably Baron Munchausen.
I'm an Aussie, which kind of ties in with my interest in anti-authoritarian criminals such as Faction Paradox, which I'm thinking of running a game about using the DWAITAS rules. Plot depends on what the character are.
I sometimes design games and websites and am studying a post-grad librarianship course.

So , I guess it's about time I did the "introduce yourself" thing. A friend of mine turned me onto the portal a few months ago(?) now, and I've been in on a few discussions, and worked on some campaign stuff. Pretty sure he told me about it so that someone else would work on the campaign, and I hope I'm not messing it up for him...kinda went crazy the first while just experimenting, and I have literally NO background in programming, so it was just awkward...fun. Learning as I go.

I guess specifics: 31, male, Canadian, pretty much exclusive D&D gaming background, though have played others, (Alternity was a favorite for a year or so a while back, and does anybody else remember TOP SECRET? That was a fun system) and love books, movies, and all forms of sport.

University English Rhetoric and Professional Writing major, to move on into Journalism at the completion of degree, just in time to watch the demise of all print-based journalistic ideas. Good idea...idiot.

Well I should probably start by saying I've been playing dnd since I was ten, so roughly 11 years. My uncle introduced me to it and I quickly became hooked into the world and adventures that let me use my imagination instead of staring mindlessly at a screen(not that I don't, I do love video games after all) After a few years my uncle began to teach my brothers and I how to DM starting with making us read all of the core basics and a few extra books, just to get the gist of things. He started us off as his assitant DM's and we went from there. I've actually been DMing since I was fourteen.. and as a DM i have one major weakness.. My love of creating new and fantastic magical items.. Which I'll post up soon.. :D

But I'm mostly interested in meeting other players of whatever games are out there, I mostly play DnD though I have played Vampires, Dark Matter(I think that's the name) and few others...

Hi. My username is Chaoswolfling. I've recently tried playing in a d20 Modern campaign that was run by my sister which failed horribly due to either her forgetfulness or her consistent losing of the character sheet.

Games I play:
Old WoD (Werewolf, specifically)
D20 Modern (all supplements)
Dungeons & Dragons (3.0/3.5, all books for both)
RuneQuest (3rd edition rulebook)
Star Wars (RCR/Saga Edition, all books for both)

I've never tried GMing, am willing to try for SW/D20 Modern after a bit of coaching from someone experienced, and will post often into PbP.

I have been a Player /DM since the first 3 books and chainmail. I Ran a campaign world for over 17 years and have been through every rendition of D&D, C&S,RuneQuest,RoleMaster and many other flash in the pan systems.
I was recently in a playtest type of Game for 4.0e that lasted about a year on and off once a month. When the DM of that game ended I stepped up to the plate to run the next game for our group.
Tired of my old world and facing a ton of conversion.
I decided to build a fresh Campaign My Campaign is Called "SixMercsForHire". Because we are now all family people and can maybe get together once a month, this game was based on merc missions ( a full write up is on my area of the portal)(Its sloppy right now so bear with me). Anyway I decided to be virtual in my new campaign, using Master Plan displayed up on the big screen, Firey dragon tiles, and Obisdian Portal for all my game info.

Over the years I developed many aides for my various campaigns and with 4.0e there are alot of areas that fall short in imagination and support for a DM. I am not a complainer but a fixer by nature So I am starting to make 4.0 DM aides.

Monster AI:After searching the web and finding that no one had made a monster AI system, I decided to sit dwon and design one. I need to have this in its beta state before my next game day. so when it is done I will post it on my site for people to check it out. I will be in excel formatte.

Ancient Magic Making:I am also designing a skill challange crafting system to add flavor to the game .. this is still in its very early stage but some of my frames of mind are posted on my site.

Visual Aides:I am also a digital artist by profession , I needed effect tiles for my game to be used in Master plan so I designed the proper number of ongoing effects, Acid,poison, lightning.. etc and posted the tiles on my forum. I will be designing more as I go.

Many congratulations on winning the Ennie. After seeing you beat Paizo, we had to come and have a look at something beating the best. (Yes we are Pathfinder groups).

Straight away we saw the value of the website and it's a shame we never found it earlier but we are playing catchup. Two campaigns in which I am playing are transferring here from Google Wave and Google websites, so we are in a transition period just now moving data and adding new stuff from the most recent sessions:

So far all has been pretty straightforward cut and paste and the tutorial for the html is easy to understand for a non-programmer. We do have two questions though we are still a bit unsure about where advice would be appreciated:

1. We are using a lot of Paizo copyright material, but see lots of others doing so too; and we know Paizo are reasonably liberal about this; BUT, is there anything we should do to ensure we are fulfilling any rules and regulations in this area?

2. For the NPCs the website is an excellent resource, but at a session we wouldn't normally have access to the internet and instead have a printed copy of the NPC list to hand. Once we have uploaded the NPCs to Obsidian Portal, is there an easy way of printing the details rather than individually printing each page?

There is so much interesting stuff here to look at and use - well done and hello!

Hi everyone!

I'm a 20-year-old Dutch girl and I'm coming to England for 5 months to do my work placement and I'm looking for friendly company and role players!
I am used to playing Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 and would love to meet up with a small group, preferably every week, to role play for a couple of hours. Unfortunately, I live in March and can't regularly come to Leicester or Nottingham, since that would simply be too expensive for my student-budget. Even so, coming to Peterborough weekly wouldn't be a problem for me.
Furthermore, it would only be for 5 months - from September 1 to January 31, since I have a work placement in the March-area. That said, I am a really easygoing girl who is proud to call herself a nerd and even though I am Dutch, my English is more than sufficient to keep up.
I'd be available on weekdays after working hours (so approx. after 6), from Mon-Fri, we'd need to figure out the best days.

Please let me know who's interested; I'm not asking for a large group, but I'd like to start with at least 2 people plus DM. Oh yeah, and someone would need to be DM 'cause I've never done that before and don't know the PHB backwards yet. ;)

So i just say some stuff about myself? Cool!
Ive been playing in my Gaming group since 2004...? lol, cant really remember, but I've done alot of D&D 3.5, we have just started trying pathfinder, which i am DMing a Drow campaign, this is my second time DMing, but the 1st time was a bit of a flop. Ive also played All flesh must be eaten and ZMed for one, Paranoia, With Great Power (a super hero system if u don't know), and Serenity. Have not tried D&D 4.0. I favor D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder.
I'm a character Buff, give me a bit of time and i will make a story. In 3.5 i try a different class and race every time. I've made at least a two dozen characters and played them half of them.
I don't have a preference on one shot campaigns verses long ones, they both have their ups and downs, but i do like the option to design my character as much as i want.
Thats about it i think...Any questions, comments, things i should say, don't hesitate to ask
Oh! is there a 3.5 or pathfinder Campaign that i can join?

I am stuck in a town that is culturally dead. as in there are two book stores and the nearest hobby shop that sells DnD books and has players is about 80 miles away (unless im wrong not likely though). Soooo.......

I am looking for a 3.5 game in the Brunswick, Ga area (20 mile radius) or on online game (im new to this style) preferably with live voice and or video.

Please help.
