Dave Arneson
April 2009
And I'll re-post what I quoted in the other thread: bq. UPDATE: Memorial at the funeral home April 20th. Public welcome. Bradshaw Funeral Home, 678 Snelling Ave South, St Paul, MN 55116

In Memoriam to 'a Father of Role-Playing'
April 2009
I read via the Dork Tower journal that the public will be welcome to Arneson's memorial service, if you can get there: bq. UPDATE: Memorial at the funeral home April 20th. Public welcome. Bradshaw Funeral Home, 678 Snelling Ave South, St Paul, MN…

My screen is a leeeeetle bit too small to tell for sure: are you putting spaces between the pipes and the content? There needs to be that buffer or they don't show up correctly.

Is there a way to set an image as the background?
April 2009
IIRC that feature only works with the < body > tag, which isn't supported on this site. They're (understandably) pretty hesitant about opening up *all* the HTML tags, and even in the cases where we've changed their minds, it will take some ti…

Hello there!
April 2009
Welcome to the site! Glad you're liking it. I have yet to go for a paid account, but my DM did it without a second thought. =)

Heya
April 2009
Welcome to the Portal! Unless you've got a LOT of time to devote, I'd recommend just focusing on getting your new campaign up and running here.

What up
April 2009
Hello! Glad it looks like the site is working out for you. I briefly considered being a snarly growly (expletive) in honor of April Fool's Day, but decided it wasn't worth it.

Would Like Your Opinions On My Homebrew World
April 2009
I think the biggest thing to expand would be cultural stuff about the playable races. I'm always a big fan of that kind of stuff, but I think it's especially important in those cases where the playable races are going to be different from the arche…

Hello from the land of eternal Summer.
March 2009
Hi Layla! You mention D&D - if you're running 4th edition, I've found that to be a much friendlier system for the GM than 3rd or 3.5 are. I'm really not at all convinced that it's been simplified much on the players' end, but I actually feel l…

http://www.zombienirvana.com/ Butch has a podcast regarding fantasy cartography using Photoshop. I have yet to care enough to actually pursue it myself, but the results he gets are stunning.

Using this site for non-tabletop games?
March 2009
I think about the only thing that would frustrate _me_ about it is if you then go to the Feature Request site and beg for folks to add in your LARP system. But the whole "adding systems" thing is just a big irritant for me in general - nothing spec…

EsVachel's Introduction.
March 2009
Hi Es'Vachel! Florimel is also really into Diceless Amber, but I've only played it twice (the campaign was SUPPOSED to be a one-shot, but yeah).

Update list problems
March 2009
In the meantime, put everything in the GM-only field. That's the only way to be sure. I gave Florimel that workaround when I first discovered the unintended effect.

Embed flash music player?
March 2009
Personally, I would simply put a data link to the song info and allow people to choose whether they wanted to hear the stuff. Have a link to a YouTube video or to a copy of the song that you've stashed someplace.

Character Levels
March 2009
IIRC, the main reason for having that field is so that other GMs could search for characters to adopt into their campaigns. So in a level-based system it would be important to know if that character is level 10 or level 5 (and I would consider a 3/…

Welcome to the Portal! I look forward to hearing about any campaigns you kick off here - I may or may not have the chance to actually read much, but it always makes me happy to hear about more stuff getting started.

Too Many Notebooks ...
March 2009
Welcome to the Portal! (Sorry I'm late to the party; I'm away from home on personal business.) I envy those folks who have all these pages and pages of information. Maybe it's a blessing that I've really gotten into gaming when things like OP h…

What is this thing?
February 2009
That is possibly the most fascinating username I've seen yet on these boards. Also, if you're familiar with Microsoft Word, the WYSIWYG editor lets you click buttons to turn text formatting on and off, so you'd be able to *see* the bold formattin…

Greetings
February 2009
Aust, if you know of any rules systems that favor tactical/military over high fantasy/magic, there is a way to search for campaigns by rules system on the main site. That'd probably be the easiest way to find out. EDIT: To TheGremlin: You probab…

Hey from Virginia
February 2009
I'd disagree about the whole murderers/paladins making it difficult for a neutral character to adapt. I'd say that's the best way to learn *how* to adapt - put yourself in a situation where you've got no choice! But enough of that...Khemetic? I…

too feminine?
February 2009
I don't think he's ALL girly. I think the easiest way to de-feminize him would be to sink in the cheeks a little. Not a whole lot or he'll look like he's starving, but just some definition in the cheekbones. ETA: Seriously not much, just like a…

Publish?
February 2009
Well, there's always going to be a trust issue. My concern was mostly while you're running it for your current players. You can use the OP wiki to have your players keep in-character journals, let the players edit what they know about NPCs, stuff …

Publish?
February 2009
I would guess "no", since people are allowed/encouraged to publish their campaigns at any point during their progress, and that'd be a horrid backdoor for players to sneak a peek at stuff they oughtn't to know. You could always drag/drop stuff ou…

Multiple Campaigns, One Game World... One or Two wiki's?
February 2009
Dear Leonine_soldier, When I first started chronicling "The Vale", it was before the developers had added the < ! -- more -- > tag. This meant I didn't want to use the Adventure Log very much, because my session writeups were (and still ar…
