I created a campaign whose only purpose was to be the respository of shared data between games. I've got multiple campaigns running that sometimes even cross over. Characters sometimes jump from one group to the other. Creating a common hub can be helpful for overall organization, although it does kill a lot of the quicklinking functions and such.
You're mileage may vary, but that worked well enough for me that I'm rebuilding it now that I have returned to OP.
