Why Two Main Pages per OP Site

So, I've never understood why there is two version of the Main Page for every OP site? There's the one that shows Characters and has the Edit this Page button at the bottom and then the one that occasionally come sup when you save the main page, tha tis a normal web page,

This is weird and actually has cause issues for me in the past, as I have had the 'secondary' Home Page not always update to the same code as the Main Page

I don't have a good answer.  I think the answer is that it was easier to have the "wiki" version available, than it would be to hide it.

But I agree that it can be confusing.  It does seem like it should be only one page, and from a Google Crawler perspective, that would be better too. 

I'll add it to the Feature Requests list.
