Recorded vs. Read

Hey, been documenting our campaign for a full year now and wanted to see what other people thought. I have written out the story of our sessions for some weeks, but others I left it as a recorded/streamed visual. Does anyone have a preference of one over the other, or do I do both?!

Ive been thinking about it alot and need to go back through and type up the written summaries of all the recorded sessions. A lot of hyperlinks to tie characters to referenced wiki pages and all.

Congrats on hitting the one-year mark, that’s huge! Keeping a campaign documented that long is no small feat.

I think both formats have their strengths, written logs make it easy to reference key story beats and lore, while recordings really capture the energy of the table and all the little unscripted moments. If you’ve got the time, a mix of the two works best: short written recaps for context, with recordings for anyone who wants the full experience.

Either way, the most important part is that you keep it fun for yourself so it doesn’t feel like a chore. I’m definitely going to check out your campaign right now, sounds like a great project!

Just wanted to say, I really love what you’ve done with your campaign layout.

Homepage: The foggy forest background sets the mood right away, and that dragon crest in the corner gives it such a strong identity. The purple accents are consistent throughout, and they give the whole page a clean, polished feel. The intro text is easy to follow and really sells the epic scale of your campaign. Honestly, it makes me want to dive right into Justonia.

Adventure Log: This section is fantastic. The timeline on the right is both slick and practical, it immediately shows how much history this group has. I like how each session is clearly labeled with numbers and titles, and the attendance note is a nice touch. Embedding the YouTube video was a brilliant move too; it makes the log feel alive and engaging, like I’m sitting in on the session myself.

Characters: The character page is laid out beautifully. The player characters at the top pop with their colorful portraits, and the way you split NPCs below keeps it clean and organized. The little taglines like “Son of a Sailor” or “Changed Traveler” are simple but do so much to spark curiosity. It’s balanced perfectly between visual and text, you can browse quickly but still get a sense of personality.

All in all, your campaign site looks amazing. It’s neat, immersive, and super easy to navigate. Thanks again for checking out my Island of the Prince campaign and for becoming a fan—I really need to get mine looking half as sharp as yours! You’ve definitely set the bar high, and it’s inspiring to see.
