styling like the Campaign of the month

So I was looking at the featured campaign and was wondering how they do some of the styling - (I may not be using the right term) things like:
- the frame cut off (read more link)
- drawing a box around the adventure log posts or something like that so that they are visually separated... I suppose I could add a picture at the beginning of every Adventure log entry, but that could eat up a huge amount of time to create the art and use it.

I'm not anywhere near a coding guru, in fact I seem to break everything I touch - so I'm looking for simple solutions.

if you'd like to see the visual disaster that my campaign is, take a look here: http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/yerth-campaign-setting

Your best place to start is the "Unofficial Help & Tips FAQ":http://forums.obsidianportal.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=1114&page=1 which has templates galore. Many folks have used the templates listed here- my own are there (will add the link below my signature on this post), and there seems to be a DFD (Wolfhound) clone born every second (knowing that I love Dresden Files Dallas, that is a good thing).
If after looking at those you do not find what you need, PM the gm of the game you like. Most of us are very friendly, and happy to share code.

    Striogi,

It sounds like you want to do something very similar to what I do with my logs - which you can view "Adv. Logs":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/metzger/adventure-log

The code for it looks like this:

    Session 60:
    The Math of Wrath

    26th - 27th Day of Planting CY 623

*Summary:* Wherein our heroes discover the true strength of numbers
    "*Read More*":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/metzger/wikis/session-60-expanded

now I am not a great coder, one of my players came up with this to match the scroll look I wanted, before this I essentially did the same thing using a png file and adding the text via MS paint (which fraking sucked because if I made a typo I had to do it all over). This scroll one really all I have to do is change the session #, title and summary. I then create a wiki-page where the full log can be viewed.

My friend Lord Ao uses a very similiar log method but he does different art at the beginning of each log that just blows the static adventure log banner I use out of the water.

    "Lord Ao - Adv. Logs":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/deepest-darkness/adventure-log

My player who made the one I use said it took about 20 minutes to do but to use it after that takes about 2 minutes , the one I used before took about 15 minutes to do. I am unsure how long it takes Lord Ao to do the custom banner stuff but you can't argue with the results.

I perused your site a bit and I think you have a good start so far. I will offer up my deity table if you want to use it for your own deity page that is cool. You can take a look at it here - "Greyhawk Deities":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/metzger/wikis/greyhawk-deities

@killervp: Thank you, most of those are probably a bit beyond my ability, but your advice is indeed helpful. I'll browse the links at more at length when I have time.
@leonidas300: Yes, actually the styles you put forth are very close to what I want. I think I can use your code as a jumping off point.

Thanks for the offer, I'm good on Deities: "Pantheon of Yerth":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/yerth-campaign-setting/wikis/pantheon-of-yerth Most of what is missing is just information I haven't transferred over from my Googledocs. takes some effort to do the reformat.
I've been working on that pantheon on and off for close to a decade.

I'm one of those GMs that have a huge, deep world... mostly in my head. :)

I've posted a few templates (just click on my profile and follow the links) and as of today I've posted the full CSS of my Dresden Files: Dallas site. Feel free to use as much or as little as you like.

Hey Wolfhound. Most generous of you to share your CSS with everyone. You continue to be an inspiration (even if Killervp implies that some of us are clones :) )

Just wondering though, any chance you could comment that CSS to make it easier to see what each part is doing to the site?

    Peace and Long Life,

Yes, be happy too.... one mythical day when I get some free time. Though free time is getting less rare than it used to be. :)

Like I said, I am one of Wolfhound's biggest fans, as he will attest. I was an early fan of your great site as well Keryth...

Thanks Wolfhound. You get to it when you get to it

And KillerVP, I was only joking with you. Please, do not take it as anything but a jest. After all, you've been a great help as well as a fan of my site
