added yet another report to the bug report thread about this... but this morning is particularly bad... normally if I try enough times, I can "override" the 500 error, this morning? no such luck, after half an hour of trying
how long do we normally have to wait to get the errors fixed? I'm almost at a standstill with editing certain pages of my wiki, which quite frankly is annoying as all get out.
Well I meant more like can you later edit the pages you were getting 500 errors for before? Like I have 2 pages that everytime I try editing them for the past day or two it won't let me. Should I just recreate these pages or will I be able to edit them at some random point? (Other pages edit just fine, it's just these two that constantly give me the error)
normally over these last many moons, whenever I get a 500 error, I hit back, hit whatever I was trying to do (save an edited page, or hitting a "dead" link to spawn a new wiki page for editing), and try and try again until it "sticks" and goes through... can take more than a few tries, but it usually goes through eventually
what I experienced this morning was awful even by the low performance standards I've come to expect from Obsidian Portal... after half an hour of trying, I just copied and pasted the edited version of the wiki page's html into a word document, saved it, and posted the new bug report...
about half an hour latter, I went back, hit "edit" on the previous version of the wiki page, and it loaded very slowly, deleted the old html, copied the new html, hit save and it saved, very slowly
as far as I can tell the problem is not specific to certain pages, the server just gets into a mood to spit out 500 errors (I gauge this because a large part of what I'm doing is ingesting current events into a science fiction timeline... trying to make a seamless continuum between recorded history, current events, punditry about near-future events and then far out sci-fi shit in the medium to far-future, so I'm usually editing the same few pages for several days in a row, e.g. whatever the current month and year is)
Whelp still can't do anything on these two pages. I now see why everyone hates OP now, this is stupidly frustrating. I think I'm mostly frustrated because It's the last two pages I need to get done to have my players use the site for the campaign and I haven't been able to finish either.
Please, dont think that those complaining around here (myself included) hate OP. We dont. Just frustrated at the lack of communication and progress and the mouting things breaking and such.
However, I remain hopeful for the new year, but we shall see

I don't hate OP, it is a great concept....
However, I have waited 11 months for the "new" owners of the site to explain why it is more broken now than when they bought it, and have yet to get a real answer- just "we have plans, you will see" over and over and over again.
I looked back at old tickets, and the old ownership never had a case that lasted longer than 48 hours. This has been happening intermittently since the end of May, 2015....

Killervp is right in that they should have gone into the support desk: My bad.
FYI, our tech guys are looking at the Error 500, 502 reports in here and in the support desk.
They're going through the error logs now and I'll post an update once I have one.
frankly, at this point, I seriously doubt these "tech guys" even exist
what killervp said about this going on since May 2015 jives with my memory of when I started to have these persistent 500 errors / first reported it
when Alex stopped responding to e-mail last month, I did some rudimentary research into Kaleidoscope Global... the phone number on your website goes to a different company... the address on your website shows up as a CVS Pharmacy on Google Earth... the CEO listed on your website shows up on LinkedIn as being the CEO for a different company, in a different industry, on the other side of the country... it all stinks to high heaven
I'm still holding out hope for a good outcome to this Tau. I used the word hate loosely. I feel if any of us truly hated OP we wouldn't even be here. I work in both the web design and business management fields and I know that company sites tend to be a low priority in businesses.
I think I'm also waiting to see where this community goes, if a mass exodus becomes necessary. The people here are super supportive and creative, which is hard to find in an online community and wouldn't want that to be lost by everyone scattering to the winds.
I don't hate OP, I'm just extremely frustrated with the 500 errors and lack of tech support... can't quite call it hope, but willing to wait and see, only pulling the plug if there isn't a solid fix / improved service by the time my membership comes up for renewal again
For a status on what's being done, visit the "tech support ticket":http://help.obsidianportal.com/discussions/problems/17190-keep-getting-500-502-or-504-errors
haven't seen any 500 errors yet today, only a really slow saving of one page (which did not include any images, let alone any externally linked images) - https://nanopunk.obsidianportal.com/wiki_pages/february-2016
generally as I'm ingesting current events into the present day portion of my sci-fi timeline, I'll include links to images (which I host externally), and so there's a good chance a page I'm editing has external images
*however*, I also encountered plenty of 500 errors when trying to add year and month pages to the "recorded history" portion of my sci-fi timeline, and my 'year page' and 'month page' templates do not include any images at all
I frankly gave up on trying to add those pages more than a month ago, because of the frequency of 500 errors, and focused on keeping my head above water only ingesting current events
One suggestion: Maybe you can hold your feedback till we get the last of the 3 fixes in place, and we'll see what else might be causing the errors and how to fix it.
The 500/502 errors seem to have largely been fixed, but there could be other sources of error creeping in.
"Error 500" is a catchall error msg which means the server was unable to fulfill the request, so the techs have dug deeper and found error 400s, malformed urls (eg: containing special characters) which led to these issues.
Once the final fix is in, feel free to post at the "tech support ticket":http://help.obsidianportal.com/discussions/problems/17190-keep-getting-500-502-or-504-errors to report the instances where you're still encountering these issues.
Got my first error today, while editing a character
Also, it seems ridiculously slow all of a sudden when opening pages or editing them or previewing them

so the answer to your question is "more than months and months" to "less than never, maybe"

And thank you Killervp and Twiggyleaf.
(all of my pages have html code in it, so I can't say that "only text" pages won't trigger 500/502 errors)
I've asked wolfhound to also take a look at your site.
Thanks.
typically I will be editing the current month, e.g. https://nanopunk.obsidianportal.com/wiki_pages/january-2016

only one of which involved a page with an embedded external image
